Outstanding coast-to-coast play from our boys there which is finished by Walter taking an incredible diving mark and playing on to kick an easy goal because his opponent wasn't paying attention. Great stuff and Walter now has three goals early in the second quarter.

Really strong pack mark about 30m out from a Joe Kennedy in the #9 jumper but unfortunately he didn't finish his good work with a goal. Still worth mentioning as a bottom ager who is likely to grow a fair bit taller like his old man Maxy.

Also like seeing Walter doing the 1%ers in the forward line by smothering the defender's kicks.

Walter gets his fourth goal after outworking his opponent in a one-on-one situation deep in the 50. Getting close to three quarter time now and we're up by 33 points.

There is a kid with long blonde hair tied up I thought he had some evasive moves. Maybe mid-forward?
#27
I believe that's Jai Murray. He kicked a goal earlier in the match.

I think he's the highest rated junior in Queensland for the '25 draft class.

Oh, so not his draft year this year? I like the way he plays.

Murray gets a third goal. Very impressive outing from him. Hard to believe he was only 15 just a few days ago.

2025 draft prospect.

So do I. Very highly rated and and was the standout for Queensland at the U15 Nationals last year.

Murray just kicked another goal by the way. I think that's two for him so far.
Make that three.

And looks like someone has a cramp on the boundary.

Is Jai Murray looking a first round talent? Hope there's a replay. Keen to watch a bit of this.
Looks like a real good prospect from the little ive seen today, especially for his age. Smart user of the footy, decent size and good goal kicker. With a couple years development, i wouldn't be surprised if he is a 1st rounder.

Probably a bit early to know if he's a first round talent but clearly he's very good for his age. We'll have a better understanding after the U16 National Championships this year but it's worth mentioning that he was selected in the U15 All-Australian team last year and I think he was also voted Queensland's best player for the tournament.

Hopefully this video is still up when you get time to watch it:

It was unbelievably hot and humid.

Brighton Homes Arena - there are rumours that a lot of Lions players and staff don't like location. No wonder, it is in the middle of nowhere although train station is next to it. Some road work happening around. I liked the oval; it is a good size - MCG? I recommend to take a train for games.

People watched/can watch the game so only a couple of observations.

I would say just average game affected by conditions. Suns were better in pressure, tried to link up and were superior for most of the game.

I was disappointed that Lombard (I believe water boy for the game) and Rogers (was with a team and looked healthy) did not play. I came specifically to watch them.

Cameron and Kornberg watched from AC cooled coach box above me.

I have seen Read and Walter before. Read still needs a lot of improvement on his body. Yes, good around the ball and can cover ground but can he make it? Let's see how he develops physically.

At the moment, Walter has a huge advantage with his body. Question is how he will go against the AFL bodies. Not sure. He does have some good traits - good speed, looks like good endurance, works hard. He did drop some marks.

I liked Graham in the first half. Not sure if he played in 2nd half.

Zanker-Close was good as KPD - good decisions, kicks.

I did wonder who that big body down back was. Decent size.

Lombard hasn't played for some time...still getting over his teeth getting knocked out. Not sure about Rogers. Graham was good first half and then played most of last quarter after a rest. He's a gun.

Advantage for walter is that he comes in with good support in King and chol so can play without all the weight on his shoulders. He looks so suited to afl though with his power and strength.

Although the standard is definitely lower, Walter didn't seem to have any issues with the Surfers Paradise fullback a few weeks ago and that defender definitely had an older and more mature body. The Surfers fullback even shook Walter's hand after he outworked him in one particular exchange so there was an public acknowledgment of Jed's ability. Having said that, we'll get a much better understanding of Walter's capabilities when he plays VFL for us this season because he'll be facing actual AFL listed key defenders. Most of us seem to think Casboult will find his way into our VFL team at some point this year so if you've got a forward line containing two wrecking balls in the form of Casboult and Walter then our VFL boys are going to do some serious damage this year.
