Went ok in this game last year too..First game back home since last year's semi
Went ok in this game last year too..
Wasn't really a pretty sight when Mick Malthouse mouthed the word rapist at Milne during the 2010 GF.Spot on. And the booing and vicious abuse of Milne for years was also treated as a joke. Double standards really piss me off. Either it's wrong to target anyone or it's a part of footy and people should ignore it.

Yes I did doubt my accuracy with the game. But it wasn't a good look whenever he said it, GF or not.I think Mick did that earlier in 2010, when we played St Kilda - not in the GF.
Jamie looked pretty sore there and later in the game as well, I hope hes ok.But it can be snorted off a house key apparently…..
It was a game earlier in the season at Etihad. Mick denied what we could all lip read.Wasn't really a pretty sight when Mick Malthouse mouthed the word rapist at Milne during the 2010 GF.
Milne started it I think. Called him an old campaigner or somethingI think Mick did that earlier in 2010, when we played St Kilda - not in the GF.
Eddie .. always making a bad situation worse.Malthouse was fined $7500 for calling Milne a "f...ing rapist", while Milne was fined $3000 for making derogatory comments about the Magpies coach's age.
The worst part about all this was Ed on TV insisting Mick used the word "pest" not "rapist".
Classic BS artist.
However good Ed was for us he came across as a used car salesman to me. Full of shite mate.Eddie .. always making a bad situation worse.
I liked Eddie. He was a man of the people. He spoke to me across a crowd because I was wearing a Collingwood scarf. He had faults - obvious and at times costly ones - but he was our Eddie. I can't even put a face to Browne or Brown, whichever it is.However good Ed was for us he came across as a used car salesman to me. Full of shite mate.
Can't argue, GG.I liked Eddie. He was a man of the people. He spoke to me across a crowd because I was wearing a Collingwood scarf. He had faults - obvious and at times costly ones - but he was our Eddie. I can't even put a face to Browne or Brown, whichever it is.
You are saying that Browne was behind Leon coming home and Winmar getting an apology, but Lumumba snubbed him and told him to **** off from his personal space. If true that Browne was the man behind it all, then Lumumba is even less of a person for fobbing off Browne at the apology ceremony. Can't argue, GG.
I was a huge advocate for Eddie, having seen the positive effect he had on our club at a time of great need. At the time we needed big and bold initiatives and Ed was the perfect man to deliver that. His efforts resulted in the ultimate glory, and for that I will always be grateful. But, having seen the change that has been brought about with a 'changing of the guard', it's hard to argue that it was not time for Ed to go. Both men have their pros and cons and I am aware of what Browne has done behind the scenes that is directly and positively impacting our club's culture. Recent events such as Leon 'coming home' and the formal apology to Nicky Winmar may not have happened (I suspect) under any other stewardship. Browne has done a lot (often quietly) to build this club, something that I'm not sure any other President might have achieved.
Perhaps we got what we needed at the time we needed them, in both cases.
I'm not suggesting that Browne was solely responsible, but I do know that Browne visited Leon in Southwest Vic, without media or any entourage, and spent time with him to better understand Leon's personal position and perhaps the greater cultural paradigm at Collingwood overall. I strongly suspect that this was the catalyst for Leon's return and perhaps led to cultural changes such as the apology to Winmar, McAdam, et al.You are saying that Browne was behind Leon coming home and Winmar getting an apology, but Lumumba snubbed him and told him to * off from his personal space. I don't have any problem with Browne as president. It's just taken me a long time to learn his name and I still wouldn't recognise him if he walked through my apartment door with his hand thrust out asking to be shaken.I'm not suggesting that Browne was solely responsible, but I do know that Browne visited Leon in Southwest Vic, without media or any entourage, and spent time with him to better understand Leon's personal position and perhaps the greater cultural paradigm at Collingwood overall. I admit I was really non-plussed about Browne's appointment but it's actions like this that illustrate his work and personal contributions toward improvement, and he has earned my respect.
Browne doesn't interfere with the club and doesn't seek the media spotlight.I don't have any problem with Browne as president. It's just taken me a long time to learn his name and I still wouldn't recognise him if he walked through my apartment door with his hand thrust out asking to be shaken.

A year or so ago he let slip the comment "I ran Collingwood for 20 years" - thanks Ed for summarising the problem (esp the last few years) so succinctly. He wasn't a man of the people by the end, he was all about Ed. He had to have complete power, and it seriously hurt the club and himself.
