I'd love to see the club engage with someone like Hugh van Cuylenberg or Emma Murray. Both were involved in Richmond's success. They don't have to use those two specifically, but surely there's someone else out there who works with the principles of G.E.M and can sort our boys' mindset out.
oh we are using hugh van cuylenburg, or at least we were last year

With Jack it is 100% in his head- good luck finding literally anyone else in the planet who has been surrounded by footy more. He grew up around some of the greatest players in the history of the game & he definitely had a kick with a hell of a lot of them. It’s not like he just needs to kick it a few more times, the skill & muscle memory is well and truly there.
Personally I think he needs an absolute top tier sports psych - preferably a proven golf psych.
The whole team needs mindwork they haven’t recovered from last year’s capitulation … it’s obvious by the way they are playing … the mind is funny like that can be filled with fear and doubt until one moment in time when clarity gets through and it all flips the other way … it’s like the four minute mile … impossible until it wasn’t … then it became easy …

How do you explain our good run of multiple goals in the last Q against dogs?

I’m not doubting there could be some mental stuff going on with some of our players but it didn’t seem to play much of a role when we played with a diff plan and we were able to slot through ~5 goals or so on the trot.

I think we mainly need to focus on tweaking the game plan and key forwards in particular to follow a set shot routine. Fix those two and we become a top 8 side imo.

That’s easy to explain we were completely out of it and so in the minds of our players we had nothing to lose so we played instinctive fearless football … once we hit the front in the minds of the players we had something to lose fear kicked in and guess what happened after that ? Lol we can tweak the game plan all we like but the players minds need the tweaking I’m convinced of this … it’s an area I have some knowledge in …

David King stat on 360.
From our kick-ins, we've given up 51 more points than we've scored. We need to fix it.
Dees are best at +21

False analysis by Kingy

Sides only average roughly a goal a game from kick ins, infact, roughly 1 in 13 kick outs, without a turnover or more

He has merged a number of areas to reach that result

Very polite way to say King has his head up his own posterior. :D
And not the cruciate ligament.

He is using totals

Giving up 51 points is less than a goal a game

It's not the reason we are losing games
The point was you shouldn't be giving up points from a kick in. Certainly not almost a goal a game more than you score.
We were ranked 16th.
I think it was 13 goals scored by the opposition from our kick ins.
It may not be the reason we're losing games, but it certainly counts. Especially when you consider we missed finals last year by a total of 2 goals across 22 games.

You know the media coverage is OTT when Eddie everywhere is sticking up for us on FC ….basically saying what’s all heat on Carlton? They are 9th and still have its destiny in its own hands.

Eddie has always been more than complementary towards us…shows us plenty of respect

He has a few mental scars caused by the good old days no doubt

I agree because it points to the poor part of our game plan where we go slow from kick ins til we hit the midfield. It usually backfires. Don't need stats to see something is wrong there. It's often short or sideways. And turnovers result.

We missed out on finals last year for an even dumber reason. Giving up 50 and 41 point leads to win by 3 and 1 point early in the year. That was a decent amount of lost percentage.
