Nah, still got a lot of risk taking in how they play. It's all masked by the dare, hard running and overlap play. They can be caught out by a high quality midfield and sharp forward line. Our only issue matching up with them previously was defence, we've settled that well with a Andrews-Payne 1-2.

I had my doubts before but the more I watch them, I think we can get them even with their best 22.
Absolutely agree... I have no doubts that if we get to September in good shape injury wise we can win the whole shebang and that includes beating any team at full strength.

Yep, our biggest challenge is going to be in-game tactics that coaches like Chris Scott, Hinkley, Goodwin and few others bring up - how well we pick up and react to them or nullify them. Next round is the first test on this aspect, Crows at Adelaide Oval will be a decent test for our group while we're in a winning streak and in form.

This is the year. Previous Premiers in Melbourne and Geelong dropping off and not sold on Collingwood.
Agree this is THE year although with our 5 oldest players being Zorko(34), Rich(32), Gunston(31) and Lyons/Lester(30)... IMO all are not absolutely vital to ongoing flag contention I think we are in a decent flag window for 3-4 seasons.

I'm hopeful we can go deep into September this year but predicting who is going to win it at this point is brave.

Things can change. Nonetheless prepared to combine bravado with a bit of dreaming to say we are unbeatable. On our day . If it's dry and not windy. And if we get there.

And as long as we're not playing Collingwood.

There have been years where we have thought that we could make the finals and even the grand final as long as another team took out team 'x' before we got to the GF since we were pretty sure we would lose to them ... of course the footy gods did not smile on our hopes and we were taken out in finals earlier.

This year I am not worried about any team being our kryptonite ... we can still lose but there is more of a feeling of being in charge of our own destiny this time around (injuries etc permitting of course).

Last year I felt we were definitely a better team then Sydney. Felt we were better than the Bulldogs in 2021 but it took us being screwed by the umps and our missed opportunities late in the game for them to go further than us. In 2019 we were a 3-5 goal better side than the Giants but our finals inexperience cost us.

Blues next 3 games > Swans(A), Demons - Bombers(MCG), Vossy is on shaky ground.

They really should beat the Swans who are in terrible form, lose and the drums will beat louder.

If this happens it would be beyond sweet. But also a lot of Lions fan sent to hospital with heart attacks. o_O

However, Squiggle says Flag Pole is a better way of predicting premiers, so no need to get too excited yet.

Couldn't imagine a better finals series.

Surely its more than just the coach.

It seems every new Carlton coach is the panacea for their problems. First it was Bolton - the new good guy coach and starlett that served under Clarkson - then Teague, who all the players apparently just loved when he was interim and when they realised the following year that he wasnt that good, they then follow the crowd in appointing a coach that had already been a senior and would be better the second time round - and now thats not working.

So what are they going to do next time round?

If you ask me, its there recruiting and footy dept that needs to be sacked. Just singining any 'name' at will and paying overs such as Martin, Williams, Saad, Kennedy, all those GWS boys and now they are left with a list that the top end - Curnow, McKay, Cripps, Walsh, Weitering that take up so much cap along with many of the guys they have brought in that they probably cant attract anyone.

They should trade out a big name and hit one draft hard like we have done, Port and a few others and set up long term success, but to blame Voss, I can understand why Bruce Mathieson knows they are a basket case.
They already sacked SOS and have a new recruiting department.

And as good as our drafting has been since Noble and Fagan arrived, it’s been our trading in of quality players that fit needs that saw us rocket up the ladder and stay at the top.

Going back to the draft isn’t going to help this Carlton team.

3rd last beating last by 116 points. What an embarrassment. At least the "who gets Harley Reid?" discussions will be closed early.
Harley Reid has already pulled the “I’m very close to my family” card when asked about being drafted interstate.

WC will be auctioning off pick 1.
