JHF is in the top 15 players in the comp for score launches.

Not really sure what a score launch is, but given 12 of the top 15 are ruckmen, I'd guess it involves initiating a chain of possession that leads to a score.

Who are the other 2 players to make up the top 15?
  • Clayton Oliver (best placed mid)
  • JHF
  • Lachie Neale

Pretty good company.

From champion data site:

Score Launch: Scoring chains launched by an intercept possession, free kick, hitout-to-advantage or clearance.

Scoring Chain: Includes all disposals and possessions for the scoring side that occur between the score launch and the actual score. The chain can only be broken by either the opposition gaining possession of the ball or a stoppage.

Which basically means our mids have to launch scores from oppo ruckmen more often than not lol.

There's been some real nuffy commentary during a couple games around Jason's disposal. Like if he could just tidy that up he'd be elite. What are they even watching?

Exactly. He was rated in top 2 or 3 in the comp (may have even been 1) a few weeks ago for kicks.

Incredible hands to Rozee the other day. Yep ... indeed what are they watching??

I think during the Kangaroos match a stat flashed up saying he was rated #1 in the competition for effective kicks inside 50? His disposal at his age I think is ahead of the pace of development considering the style of player he is.

I mean jeez, Patrick Dangerfield could clean up his disposal a bit as well couldn't he

It comes mainly from the old timers (Healy, Derwayne, J.Brown etc) who parrot what they hear in the week.

The more recently retired players tend to be highly impressed in what he is doing at his age/experience. Hodge and Lewis in particular have several times commented “how about Jason Horne-Francis kick/pickup/clearance!!!”

Yep 90% of commentary about Port and Port games is based on something someone overheard and then repeated (and this is true to differing levels for all teams). We have a very lazy, dumb football media in general. Most of them don't look at reality or think for themselves.

I think my favourite was that year where we were 50/50 at home and winning just about every game on the road and there were still people in the media talking about the Portress and Port "struggling away" lol

A couple grubbers off the boot against St. Kilda into our forward 50 and it's basically what anyone remembers now because it was Friday night footy, probably haven't bothered watching a 3rd of our games otherwise.

Hodge actually was the only relatively balanced commentator in the game v Melbourne, while BT and Richo were busy questioning umpiring decisions in our favour and barracking for Melbourne.

Shame he didn't hold onto this.

Surprised he didn't get suspended for it under an experimental law made up just for Port players.
