If you were ever going to play Buddy in the twos this is probably one of the few weeks to do it seeing as we are playing on a proper AFL surface. Reduced risk of injury.

If JPK can play twos why can’t Bud? Imagine how much those players would learn

Surprised Dangerfield is okay to play - thought for sure he'd need a week or more.

Happy they are taking a leaf from the Horse Book of Howlers in playing half fit blokes

If T Mac is right I would see him come in for either Mellican or Francis. Would be my only change. If Hayward is given a game being the teachers pet, what are the chances of Paps getting dropped and Hayward taking his forward spot. Probably leaves us thin on midfield rotations, that’s the only thing.

Regarding a great point Kiama Chris made about Geelong's success in stifling our outlet players in and around clearances, I suspect they will try to do the same again. Two ways I'd like to see us work around this at centre bounces:

1. If it's a high-pressure game and we can't use our outside mids/wingmen, we could bomb it long for territory. Geelong's defence love when teams bomb it long, but not so much if its deep forward and Stewart, Henry and the like have to defend forward stoppages at ground level. If we can win some clearances out the front of stoppages, we could at least get some deeper entries off those long bombs. If Geelong's defenders are marking our centre breaks around the 40-60m out zone, then... yikes.

2. We could also use our half-backs more, and I'd like to see them really pushing up and being pro-active more in this game. They've had next to no effect the last two times we played them. It's harder to cut off a moving target tearing off the back of the centre square than it is a stationary target waiting for the receive on the outside. We could maybe use our receivers/wingmen - Gulden, Campbell, McInerney etc. - as something of a decoy, to allow our half backs to push up for receives from clearances instead.

So from our centre bounces I'll be looking for run and carry from half backs and long bombs that clear the half forward zone. Of course all of the above is rendered absolutely pointless if we fail to win the ball at the coalface as we've done the last two times we've played them.

I will say I don't think Gulden's inside minutes have increased as the season's progressed. I think it's the opposite. The first seven games of the season he was averaging 39% CBAs, the last seven he's been averaging 23%. And that's been with Mills out. Nothing against Gulden, but I think it's been best for both the midfield and Gulden himself.
Well there you go, Errol's influence on the game has me so mesmerised that I've turned into an All Australian selector.

Thanks caesar88 nice strategising. Another thing that can work is to shuffle it twice or even three times. Richmond did this quite a lot. Because of our intention to get the ball into 50 quickly I don't see us do it often.
Hopefully we will have plans A, B, C, D, E etc. and keep their defenders fully accountable.
