I'd say this is also partly why is so invested in this incident :

So he cannot remove the emotion from the reality?
It gives him the right to call our player a thug now does it because as you say “this is why he’s so invested”.

It’s disrespectful and he should pull his head in with his comments about our player

I’m loving the ‘AFL are intervening to ensure Collingwood make the grand final’ angle from oppo numptys, despite the fact that the head honchos of the league are the ones that interfered to send Bruzzy to the tribunal, where their bankrolled lawyer then argued the case for Bruzzy to get 3 weeks. Would sound like a bold strategy to get us there!

Imbeciles.

What were you in jail for?
“If you all take concussion so seriously, perhaps you should campaign for a higher penalty for van rooyen? An illegal elbow to the head, mcstay was very lucky not to be concussed

I look forward to the Melb football club taking a stance and asking for 4 weeks for him”

I posted this on their board and it wasn’t well received. I made the mistake of reading their comments and I couldn’t help myself call out their hypocrisy, Goodwin included

Love it. :tearsofjoy:

Melbourne fast becoming a bunch of salty campaigners, even Brisbane has a won a final at the mcg more recently than Melbourne. Hope melbournes expected score stacks up this week.

Sometimes jail is an accepted outcome for being honest to the core. Good for you.

Remember everyone.

A Collingwood player attempting a LEGAL football act accidentally causing a collision and concussion generates days of hysteria, and a referral to a 4 hour tribunal hearing with rolling coverage…

A Melbourne player, who deliberately and intentionally elbowed a player in the head, an ILLEGAL act (cause to be sued if injured IMO) results in 1 week ban, and 🦗, with 0 media coverage all because the player was LUCKILY not injured.

See anything wrong with this?…

Oh and below incident, Two weeks BTW. Two… and no rolling coverage, no media outrage, no rioting..but he’s a Melbourne player

The hypocrisy always amazes me!

Heard another profressional head trauma doctor (I think. But doctor at minimal) wants the AFL to appeal Bruzzy’s tribunal decision.

We live in a day and age where the soft underbelly of society looks for any possible reason to get triggered. This is just too much for them.
It looked horrible i agree but a 3 hour sitting has found he broke no current rules and that you are allowed to attempt a spoil. If Brayshaws kick is 20cm either way it gets smothered and Maynard is lauded for a brilliant defensive act. That rule will be tweaked over summer to prevent this happening again but thats not Collingwood or Bruzzys fault. Rational logic completely leaves anti Collingwood peoples thought process at times

He doesn't have any issue with the incident. He's always thought Maynard should be cleared.

This was specifically about the evidence which said a player who kicks with either foot will lean a certain way. Brayshaw didn't lean the way you would expect. Hodge disputes that is the case & was just surprised the AFL didn't question it further.
The expert was right - he didn't say players will always move to the left, just that they often will.

If you're doing it properly with a standard kick for a right footer, you've shifted your weight to the left so you're balanced over your left leg - your kicking action isn't straight through, it runs a bit of an arc so the tendency is that at the end of your arc your right foot will come down left of where it started. The standard kick will see you shift a bit to the left after impact.

Brayshaw was off balance and didn't have his weight over his left leg - it was right of that, which meant he landed further to the right and his upper body was off balance on landing still and he was leaning further to the right again.

You remind me of Nelson Mandela.

I'm not excusing or justifying his comments about Maynard at all.

Just pointing out he has significant concussion issues himself, so he's obviously emotionally & personally affected. It likely affects the way he expresses himself as well.

The media have a responsibility about reporting this stuff and not whipping up such a frenzy by speaking to so many people who are obviously biased for multiple reasons.

I agree, Bruzzy's character should not be questioned and I don't care how many concussions Shaun Smith has had. No excuse.

Happy to cop the whack, but I did miss being involved in the Maynard rolling thread, it was frustrating not being able to type!
It’s a shame you’re not just banned from that particular club board only. It’s forces you back to your own board anyway.

Hodgey obviously missed that. He just wondered why the AFL didn't question it more.

Oh im out of jail!

How good for Maynard! Made my week.

Common sense prevails.

The afl needs to start revising their reporting system. It is weighted far to heavily on outcomes rather than actions

An accident that results in concussion is more heavily weighted than a blatant illegal punch/elbow that doesn’t. This is a huge issue

It's a system designed to defend against hypothetical future lawsuits, not one that has ever been guided by reason. The imbalance between outcome and intent is not only antithetical to basic legal principles but basic common sense.

And this strategy in itself is completely illogical, as future CTE lawsuits are not going to be determined by future plaintiffs dredging up old tribunal decisions and arguing about how many weeks player a or b should have got. It's genuinely f*cking ridiculous when you actually think about it.

All this system has achieved is to turn everyone into raving lunatics because the 'logic' underpinning it can't even be discussed let alone justified without the human brain going into meltdown.

Why is there no conspiracy starting about Woods amongst all the hysterically triggered souls out there?

Couldn’t the Pies have paid him off to pull his pants down so badly?

Woods just looked shit because he didn't have a case. It just didn't meet the Tribunal guidelines for careless.

a) Bracing isn't bumping
b) Brayshaw shifts his line after Maynard left the ground, you can't say it was reasonable for Maynard to foresee that.

Case closed.

It probably needed to go to the tribunal for the optics, but it was a waste of time. Christian's ruling was spot on.

If the rules are tweaked let’s hope for footy’s sake they don’t do this ….

Any footy action that results in concussion to another player will result in a suspension of a week if it’s deemed an accident. If it is graded careless or deliberate, the week is graded upwards from there.

That’s be terrible.

Yep MC was vindicated. His initial assessment t proved to be correct.

I agree for optics sake, the referral was necessary.

Two victims in this. Brayshaw with his concussion. Maynard for having his name unfairly dragged though the mud for 5 days.

Why? I think it’s generally accepted that brayshaw suffered head trauma. That’s not in dispute. It’s whether or not it was accidental and as a medical professional not a football expert he’s presumably got no more expertise in that field as any other football fan.
