Due to his 2023 cap number, Chiefs DL Chris Jones' projected franchise tag would be $32 million - instead of the regular $19.7M - making him an unlikely tag candidate.

Due to his 2023 cap number, Buccaneers WR Mike Evans' projected franchise tag would be $28.4 million - instead of the regular $21.6M - meaning he is not expected to be a tag candidate.

Vikings QB Kirk Cousins cannot be franchise tagged; he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month.

The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec said it’s “looking unlikely” OG Kevin Zeitler will return to the Ravens.
Zeitler and the Ravens didn’t reach an agreement ahead of Monday’s deadline. Now set to hit free agency, the veteran guard, who started all 47 games he appeared in for the Ravens since 2021, should have a strong free agent market come next month. Zeitler turns 34 next month and earned a Pro Bowl nod for his 2023 efforts and earned a PFF blocking grade of 71.6. In addition to Zeitler, RB Gus Edwards, CB Rock Ya-Sin, and S Geno Stone are also set to hit free agency after failing to land new deals prior to the deadline. As a result, the Ravens will carry $8.308 million in dead cap into next season.

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reports Mike Evans and the Buccaneers “remain far apart” on a contract extension.
As far as Evans’ future with the Bucs is concerned, this is only mildly concerning for the time being. Evans and the team will continue to discuss an extension ahead of free agency, but there’s a “soft deadline” specific to Monday that would allow the Buccaneers to offset $7.4 million in dead cap for the 2024 season if Evans and the team were able to reach an agreement. Evans will be 31 at the start of next season and has gone for 1,000-plus yards in each of his first 10 seasons in the league. Still among the league’s most productive receivers, Evans will have a bustling market should he officially get to free agency, as he could immediately raise the ceiling of any contender.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports, “Some personnel people inside the league believe the Ravens will target a running back with a pedigree in free agency.”
The Ravens have an interesting situation at running back. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are both set to hit free agency, and neither is particularly trustworthy at this point in their careers. and Keaton Mitchell is an explosive but undersized back who is recovering from a torn ACL. Dobbins’ has suffered both a torn ACL and ruptured Achilles over the last three seasons, and Edwards saw up-and-down usage during the 2023 season and will be 29 at the start of next season. Sportsbooks have already tabbed Derrick Henry as an early favorite to land with the Ravens should he and the Titans not re-up for a new deal, but with guys like Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, and Tony Pollard likely to be available, the Ravens could opt for a significant upgrade at the position. Of course, they’d have some financial work to do as they project to be slightly over the salary cap at this time.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Bengals will likely “let veteran slot receiver Tyler Boyd walk” this offseason.
Boyd is 29 years old and coming off the worst statistical season since an injury-plagued 2017 season that limited him to just 10 games. Boyd was a non-factor throughout much of the 2023 season, surpassing 50 receiving yards just five times in 17 games. His 10.0 YPR also marked a career-low for the eight-year vet. Boyd has played 81.2 percent of his snaps from the slot and can provide reliable hands to a team in need of a third receiver. He’ll certainly generate interest on the open market but may need to wait until after the draft to find a landing spot.

ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports the Vikings re-negotiated the deal for LB Marcus Davenport.
Davenport’s contract was set to be voided on Monday, which would have resulted in a dead cap hit of $6.8 million. With his deal now re-negotiated to expire on March 11th, the Vikings and Davenport have some extra time to work out a new deal ahead of free agency. Davenport, 27, signed a one-year deal with the Vikings last offseason. He appeared in only four games due to an ankle injury, totaling seven tackles and two sacks during that span. After breaking out for nine sacks in 2021, Davenport has managed just 2.5 sacks over his last 19 games and has never played in a full season. Still, it appears the Vikings would like to work out a deal with him for 2024 if the price is right.
