There's a guy named Matt Hill calling the Dogs/Dee's game on Kayo. Never heard him before but he has an almost classic 'footy on the radio' voice. Does he call games on the radio and if so which station?

The latest TV rights deal included Foxtel/Kayo insisting they'd be allowed to use their own commentary for games they air, the assumption was that they realised the style of the average meathead Ch7 commentator was on the nose with viewers and getting better commentary would help drag audiences away from free-to-air.

Has that come into play this year? I remember hearing about it but was unsure when it was going to happen.

If anything was to change CH7 it would be low ratings, so here's hoping.

Yeah I posted that as an exaggeration. I’d be shocked if there really were 44k people in attendance though.

That crowd looked pretty bloody sparse.

It always does when it's half filled though. It's part of the reason why the interstate clubs + smaller Melbourne teams getting access to the G is such a tricky problem, because yes, they should play more games at the MCG for the sake of fairness, since the GF is there for the next 40 years, but it's undeniably better when that game in front of a 35K to 45K crowd is at the dome

maybe most amt of tix bought, but that crowd wasn't 30k, let alone 44k.

Ours didn't crowd either, but I don't really know why the MCG/AFL would bother fudging the numbers as it doesn't really make a difference to anything.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the majority of the crowd in the Warne stand were up the back under shade somewhere so it looked more empty than it was. Bugger sitting out in that sun for 2.5 hours!
