Curtin will play AFL this week, as confident as I've been that he will based on his SANFL performance today. Dowling hasn't been great so won't be near it, but Curtin putting in a top 3 performance on the ground type game is something even Nicks can't ignore now. Oskar Ryan should be very close as well, better than anything Hamill has done at AFL or SANFL level.
Curtin in as you say, and unless he needs a rest at any point he stays in ahead of McHenry/Murphy/Smith/Scholl/Hamill for the rest of the season.

Dowling was travelling emergency. He is beyond Sanfl. But will be forced to play Sanfl due to lack of game time. Curtin wont be selected.

Both should be playing AFL but neither will this week because of a showdown. Hope im wrong. You never know with Nicks.

Curtin ends up with 30 disposals (21 kicks) and 7 marks while playing a mix of half back/wing and then a bit forward in the 4th (where he kicks 1.1 and still has 6 touches in this role). Was very good at reading the ball in the air too and chopping off North kicks with either a mark or spoil. I'm sure he had a heap of score involvements too but can't see those stats. Exactly the type of game you expect from an elite talent used in his correct position in the lower leagues. Even our coaches can't ignore this, especially if it was him and Dowling next in line (Dowling wasn't anything special today).

If Nicks as he says wanted him to work on his defensive skills against the best SANFL key forward last week, then seeing him released into an attacking role this week and getting that type of performance is surely what they were looking for to bring him into the AFL side.

Dowling played at Prospect, but Curtin’s game puts him ahead now. Can easily play both though when you’ve got McHenry and Hamill running around in the 1s.

Dowling played SANFL today, he wasn't a travelling emergency. That was Gollant.

Ahh Dowling did play. Last I saw he was out. Correction. I didn't see the game. Curtin being the clubs prime target is always going to be the one we want up and ready first. But its no race, its team balance and where they fit. So ditch the competition whose ahead of who because i can assure you Curtin is not coming in if we want a midfielder. He will be coming into defence which means Nicks is trying to find every excuse in the book not to play him because he isnt strong enough to defend against the big AFL bodies.

Out: Pedlar (inj), Hamill, McHenry (sub)
In: Schoenberg, Curtin, Hamill (sub)

What’s Berry’s fitness status?
I like these changes...

B: Michaelanny, Keane, Hinge
HB: Laird, Worrell, Curtin
C: Nankervis, Soligo, Jones
HF: Rachele, Walker, Keays
F: Cook, Himmelberg, Fogarty
R: O’Brien, Dawson, Rankine
I: Borlase, Crouch, Sholl, Schoenberg
Sub: Hamill

We need to remain tall with Aliir out.

I think our midfield looked better when Laird moved to half back & have Nankervis off a wing. Can inject Laird on ball later in the game with Hamill coming on as sub.

Don’t see the sanfl game but I imagine that Murphy would have shown amazing values 🙄. Probably in 😞

Do we think 3 changes will occur after a win? Don't forget Smith will come back.
One of those changes is forced, and I think they will see Butts over Borlase as being a strict upgrade. But yeah I think Smith will be back after the rest if he's capable of training, so there will be some juggling to do. Smith for Pedlar and Curtin for Hamill is a real possibility, and if Smith isn't fit maybe Hamill stays in.

He was responsible for the sanfl side's shape....

Showdown debut because **** it, why not.

In: Curtin, Murphy, Smith
Out: Pedlar (inj), Hamill, McHenry, Sholl(sub)

Pedlar --> Murphy. Depth chart shuffling with McHenry being cast back out into the wilderness.
Hamill --> Curtin. 30 disposal game from our best prospect who isn't getting games? You'd almost think that forces a debut, especially with Hamill not shining.
Sholl --> Smith. Best 22 player coming back and without there being too many standout bad performances, the player who came in gets flicked.
