Why did we even draft him then? Barely got a few weeks in and then tore a hammy. Very harsh given you need a full preseason in the system at least, to know whether you have what it takes or not.
Must have decided that his body isn't going to stand up to the required training loads would be my guess. The toll of the injuries just won't allow the resilience to recover sufficiently hence the two hamstring injuries in a short space of time

Would be a different conversation if Macrae had one or two contract years left but the whole point of trading him is to get the salary off the books. If we're truly challenging for a flag, it matters more that draft picks.

Given he has $2 million or more guaranteed money left if anything I'd be willing to package a draft pick to get rid of 100% of it like a Jack Bowes deal or something (not entirely necessary as without Smith we don't have a salary cap crunch but the point holds true).
Don't give Geelong ideas.

"We'll do you a huge favour and take Macrae off your hands, but at the same time you have to pay some of his salary and also give us Bailey Smith, all for a token 4th rounder"

Do we have any use for someone like Dan Houston?

Mid season picks are flakey options at the best of times

Alright boys in the know, what could the cotton on king be talking about, his clothing line launch? , his drug habit?, someone told him his mullet looked bad? Spill

What’s the side he’s gonna have a to tell? Played round round one in his first season? Never played VFL? Club backed him after caught on the gear? Let him go to Europe while injured? Sounds like Footscray was like auschwitz for poor Bailey.
If you believe the experts he played centre half forward which he didn’t like!

Jacko is currently on 249 games at the club… gee that sucks - wish him nothing but the best of luck. Having said that, an early second rounder would be ideal, and give us a good chance to start replenishing the list with some speed.

A big off season for our BullGods, with JJ and CDs futures at the club looking less than guaranteed.

I hope the AFL Fixturing Department are smart and schedule us to play RD1 against whichever club Macrae goes to.

I agree with you. Only thing I think is they believe his body won’t handle the rigours of afl if tearing his hammy twice in the vfl. Poor fella had horrific leg injury in his draft year

He's going to tear it up at Geelong. The fixtures, the management, the coaching and recruitment....they'll just permanently be in finals.
