I remember that era, (sans that ridiculous music cart) when after dinner the man of the house retreated to the lounge room with his pipe and slippers to listen to the radio, leaving the wife to clear the table and do the washing up on her Pat Malone.

What has happened to the world?

Holy shit Capital Power I just did my ACT car rego and just about fell off me chair! $600 more than what I paid in Tassie last year! Are the plates made of gold?
Aha. Just wait until you get your property rates. Highest in the country. Close to a 10% increase each of the last two years for us, and we don't live anywhere "desirable".

To be fair a lot of the increase is on the third party premium, which is "competitive" - four companies who are all price gouging.

It's all to fund this bloody tram they're fixated with (which in turn is a result of power sharing with the greens). Services everywhere else are being slashed. It's already cost over a billion dollars and they're planning on squandering at least another two.

It's ok, will never be able to afford property here, so don't need to worry about rates. Lucky me.

My bunghole is quivering in anticipation of my car insurance renewal though, which is due in the next few weeks as well 😵
