Because they don't have a plan. I spoke to a few Greens volunteers who spoke about this issue, which came up in multiple electorates when door knocking. They reckon that Qld Greens MPs don't have an actual alternative for the school or the stadium.
That's because it involves progress.

Can't imagine the LNP Lord Mayor would be saying this to the LNP Premier unless it was genuinely a possibility.

Also quite a turn from how vehemently Schrinner came out against a Vic Park stadium at the start of the year.

Lord Mayor Says Victoria Park Must Be Considered In Olympic Venue Review
Thanks for showing the article.
Just noting the Lord Mayor is Liberal party only, The Premier is LNP with his main allegiance to the Liberals.
However, in power the Premier may find things more difficult to keep both his parties views aligned.
For arguments sake, i doubt the Nationals give a dam about a new stadium in Brisbane or possibly the Olympics in general.

From the article it's hard to know who is doing the review. People he will appoint for a review like Miles did.
Or will it come from this authority mentioned in the article "his promised 100-day review sometime next month, when the board of the independent Olympic infrastructure delivery authority was constituted."

With typical government fast-tracking, it may unfold like this:
People he appoints pass on the report exactly 100 days after starting.
The report is given to the newly constituted authority for review.
The authority read the review and question quite a few details in that report, this takes some time to clarify.
Once satisfied, the authority passes the amended report to Crisafulli.
Crisafulli takes days to absorb what is in the report.
He calls a press conference to tell everyone he rejects their findings.

I like this image of The Gabba from above. It was taken some time ago.
Either before they finished the roof or after a portion of the roof was removed when a huge storm hit the area.

The image is one of the better ones that shows the real problem with space available around the existing stadium.
The area i marked is the only way i see to get extra land for the stadium.
The building fronting Main Street on the right is heritage listed.
This entails demolishing the 12 story "Gabba Towers" building. I believe it is owned by the Government so that helps.
The school is on the left.

Even permanently closing one of Stanley, Vulture or Main Street would not help.

Yeah, this is literally the only thing holding the Gabba back - it's the squeeze between the major roads.

FWIW, I still think it should be the Gabba, and the ground needs to be elevated to fit this. But I get the issue.

If you make the oval a little longer, and more narrow (like Optus), it fits better.

Disagree - the cooperation between the various levels of government doesn't always follow party lines.

Besides, Brisbane itself is really what saved the ALP from getting completely wiped out this year. Schrinner will do himself no electoral harm by not getting too matey with Crisafulli.

Knock it down, sell the land, do whatever with the site - proves even more how much we need a new stadium at the Vic Park site in nice surroudnings like MCG, SCG, Adelaide Oval, Optus Stadium.
