Because they don't have a plan. I spoke to a few Greens volunteers who spoke about this issue, which came up in multiple electorates when door knocking. They reckon that Qld Greens MPs don't have an actual alternative for the school or the stadium.
That's because it involves progress.

Can't imagine the LNP Lord Mayor would be saying this to the LNP Premier unless it was genuinely a possibility.

Also quite a turn from how vehemently Schrinner came out against a Vic Park stadium at the start of the year.

Lord Mayor Says Victoria Park Must Be Considered In Olympic Venue Review
Thanks for showing the article.
Just noting the Lord Mayor is Liberal party only, The Premier is LNP with his main allegiance to the Liberals.
However, in power the Premier may find things more difficult to keep both his parties views aligned.
For arguments sake, i doubt the Nationals give a dam about a new stadium in Brisbane or possibly the Olympics in general.

From the article it's hard to know who is doing the review. People he will appoint for a review like Miles did.
Or will it come from this authority mentioned in the article "his promised 100-day review sometime next month, when the board of the independent Olympic infrastructure delivery authority was constituted."

With typical government fast-tracking, it may unfold like this:
People he appoints pass on the report exactly 100 days after starting.
The report is given to the newly constituted authority for review.
The authority read the review and question quite a few details in that report, this takes some time to clarify.
Once satisfied, the authority passes the amended report to Crisafulli.
Crisafulli takes days to absorb what is in the report.
He calls a press conference to tell everyone he rejects their findings.

I like this image of The Gabba from above. It was taken some time ago.
Either before they finished the roof or after a portion of the roof was removed when a huge storm hit the area.

The image is one of the better ones that shows the real problem with space available around the existing stadium.
The area i marked is the only way i see to get extra land for the stadium.
The building fronting Main Street on the right is heritage listed.
This entails demolishing the 12 story "Gabba Towers" building. I believe it is owned by the Government so that helps.
The school is on the left.

Even permanently closing one of Stanley, Vulture or Main Street would not help.

Yeah, this is literally the only thing holding the Gabba back - it's the squeeze between the major roads.

FWIW, I still think it should be the Gabba, and the ground needs to be elevated to fit this. But I get the issue.

If you make the oval a little longer, and more narrow (like Optus), it fits better.

Disagree - the cooperation between the various levels of government doesn't always follow party lines.

Besides, Brisbane itself is really what saved the ALP from getting completely wiped out this year. Schrinner will do himself no electoral harm by not getting too matey with Crisafulli.

Knock it down, sell the land, do whatever with the site - proves even more how much we need a new stadium at the Vic Park site in nice surroudnings like MCG, SCG, Adelaide Oval, Optus Stadium.

Does anyone remember the Greg Swann interview he gave back when he first joined the club? I love Swanny, but he genuinely thought there wasn't enough Brisbane Lions fans in Queensland and asked AFL fans in QLD who supported other teams to support the lions as their second team. To go from that to where we are now is astounding. And once the new stadium is built (wherver it may be), we will easily eclipse 70k members. Which says a lot considering we struggled to crack 15k during the banter era. I think that's the amazing part of the stadium plans to me. Once it's built, it will show just how far we've come as a club. Something I think rarely few thought would be possible back in 2013-2014.

Taking in the brilliance of The Games on ABC iView. I look forward to hearing about all of these issues in the run-up to our games.
There's an even a bit where John talks to the AFL CEO and he goes through all the days/time slots that games are being scheduled at now but it doesn't matter that fans don't want to go as it's all about the corporates. And this was 1998/99 and it's only gotten worse since then.

Yet another example of the Greens (a) opposing progress and (b) just being plain wrong.

Well, no Seal, they're not completely incompatible. Victoria Park is ENORMOUS. As that little girl in the GIFs is very fond of saying...

Girl Why Dont We Have Both GIF

Also, the positioning of the stadium in that map is interesting. The Brisbane Bold proposal (a graphic of which is included in the above article, somewhat confusingly and contradictorily) has the stadium in the north east corner of the park, on the eastern side of the ICB, which would be completely covered over under their (very excellent) proposal.

It's disappointing the quality of reporting of this whole saga has been so poor as to not provide any distinction between the B-grade proposal favoured by Graham Quirk in his report, and the Brisbane Bold proposal which is a far superior proposal on virtually every measure.

It's funny she suggests that Council is being shady about including a possible stadium location in their plans. That just seems like good planning rather than a conspiracy.
Like, if Vic Park is greenlit by State, great there's an area in Vic Park it can go. Instead of a Vic Park stadium being greenlit by State requiring BCC to immediately change their plans for the area of land where the stadium is being built.

Also, come to think of it it's strange there was no mention in the Quirk Review of a Vic Park stadium possibly forcing the closure of the Vic Park Golf Complex.

I can't read the article due to the pay wall. So will just go on the image you provided.
I walked Victoria Park the other day and there did not appear to be enough room in that section outlined for a stadium.
You also have the busway going underneath in that section.
Those carparks for putt putt, driving range, restaurant and function centers was full the day i visited on a weekday.
I had to wait till someone was leaving to get a park. There are a lot of carparks.
The ground in that section is less hilly than other parts of the park. Thats the only positive i see.
But if that's where a stadium can get approval then fine with me.

Map Of Area Below

1: Area mentioned in the article
2: One of the proposed arears previously mentioned. Quite hilly so a lot of ground excavation work
3: Proposed warm up track. this is the location in a few of the proposals. It is level land.
4: Pedestrian & cycle bridge over rail lines and Inner City Bypass. It is quite wide.
5: Worth consideration but still hilly. Has a little more land to work with. Still classed as Victoria Park/Barrambin. Better access for deliveries etc etc.
6: Entrance and exit off ICB but only from one side. Not large but it is already there.
7: If 5 is viable a green overpass about 3 times wider than the pedestrian one in 4. That will help add more greenspace back to the park. Will also link up to warmup track.

EDIT: You can forget my number 5 proposal as there appears a bit of history in that area called Gundoo Memorial Grove.
A total of 1550 trees were ordered at a cost of £75 in 1959
