I think if we were going to select Davidson we would have done so in the MSD. Little chance we pick him up in the ND I'd say.

Everyone overlooks the fact Davidson had played just 1 x good game prior to the MSD. He then strung together a few of his best games POST the MSD. That’s why NOBODY picked him up in the MSD … his credentials are a lot better now and I think he’ll go mid-late in the ND.

Freo were hard done by in the media last year. They lost their last 4 games, but played them all without Treacy, Darcy and Pearce. Their best forward, best ruck and best defender. They lost by 1 / 11 / 9 / 20.

Every team has injuries, but that was a hammer blow to end the season.

Brisbane would have found enough points from other trades with other teams that going into deficit (if they had to) to match a Marshall bid would have been palatable. Especially with the ability to trade future picks two years in advance starting next year to make up for any 2025 shortfall.

Save for a ridiculously high bid on Marshall not sure there’s a world where Marshall wasn’t a Lion by the end of the draft. Regardless of what picks we gave up for 20.

Yeah …. over the history of the draft let’s analyse the players teams have wanted but missed out on due to a point shortage :

Why would North do that?

6 + 15 for 2 + 8(2025) for example, that's a terrible deal for them. There's a decent chance it'd be a 3-6 pick next year, we destroy them in that trade.

Well look at it this way

If they are desperately looking to trade their F1 (which they are ) who will give them a better pick than #15 ?
Richmond just about own all the picks prior or team that have them wont trade out

#6 - #2 will be the pay back to get #15
There are 6/7 teams wanting to get into this years draft

He'd played well enough for plenty of us to say that we should be taking him. If us morons could see his potential, then I'm sure the club could have too. Unless they just don't rate him that much? I first mentioned him on 4th May, over 3 weeks before the draft.

I'd argue he played at least as well as Trezise had when we picked him up, and has more potential IMO.

Lol I’m so glad posters on this board aren’t our list managers. Your complete focus to try and f every other club will ostracise RFC from the competition, and clubs will stop dealing with us.

Other real scenarios from the above:
-North say f you, take FOS at pick 2, then trades their F1 to GWS for pick 15/16 and takes the best KPP on the board (note - there’s plenty!). NM are paying overs, but it’s still a far better deal than what RFC had proposed.

-StK then say f you, we are absolutely more than happy with 7 & 8, why are we paying overs to trade down? Much like RFC, StK are in an incredible draft position and would only need to trade if it’s mutually beneficial to them.

-GWS have already taken the far better trade option of pick 15/16 for Norths F1, so that deal is off the table.

-We don’t have pick 16, so we’d need to offer pick 18 for Melbs F1 with the bombers. This might be the only deal to happen.

Then, when the dust settles, Richmond is left with the exact same hand as when the trade period ended sans pick 18, all because of our giant egos and inability to come to a mutually beneficial trade arrangement… (which hey, I’m not arguing isnt a bad position to be in…)

I'm some random posting on a forum. I have as much influence on what Richmond does at the draft as you do, which is 9/10th of SFA and like everyone else here I'm just wasting time until the actual draft happens so we can all melt about how our favourite players weren't drafted by us.

So I’m not the only one who is pissed about handing the Lions too much for pick 20. We got bent over. We gave Brisbane the biggest points gain ever in the draft. I know I’m going to hear points don’t count bullshite but in this case they do.

If Richmond had not given Brisbane so many points, then to get Ashcroft they would have had to go into 2025 deficit. This would have left them with no points for Marshall and he’d have become available. The kid will be an absolute gun.

I keep hearing what a top negotiator Blair is but I also think we got unders for Bolton. Rioli and Baker were wins.

No doubt next thing you’ll be saying - Blair is a bit of a soft ****
