Great to see we're unchanged again. It's a hard side to break into considering there's only been 2 changes from the Premiership side last year in Hartill & Long replacing Monahan & Pauga.

Probably not. We will probably just do what we normally do in AFLW drafts and draft 2 or so Lions Academy peeps. Lily Baker, Chloe Gaunt, Kaiya Hides, are our two main academy products in the draft this year.

If the team is second was as behind first as was the case this year, then it would make a big difference

But if the equalisation system worked we’d probably lose 4-6 players and the Roos 8-10 of the respective grand final teams

We did that last season after we won and it allowed Smith to get leading goal-kicker.

We're pretty happy with the list we have at the moment according to Starc with minimal changes happening this off-season at a guess.

He talked up a bunch of players wanting to be traded here. He clearly neglected to mention we didn't actually want any of them.

I'd say overall we weakened our list after last season

“We’re still a club that players looking from the outside are inquisitive about joining, so I think that’s a good thing for us – we never really had that in the early part of our existence,” he said.
“We’re getting more and more inquiries from different players around the league as to ‘what are the possibilities?’ But that doesn’t mean they’re all coming in one big hit, because we’re pretty happy with the list that we’ve got as well.
“We have to be astute about what we need to keep getting better with, what type of player, and the needs that we need to fill.”

So far, the only list changes we've made are Lutkins & Pregelj retiring and we'll sign Neasa Dooley as a rookie. Still a few OOC though.

The Brisbane Lions have confirmed the final list changes ahead of the 2024 AFLW Draft.

The Club has informed Luka Yoshida-Martin that she will not be offered a contract for the 2025 AFLW Season.

Based off the above, seems like we're going to draft 2 draftees in Lily Baker & Chloe Gaunt while re-signing Dunne, Heslop, & Hampson, and signing Neasa Dooley after the draft.

Just dropping in to say the Lions have nominated three players (no obligation to take them): Lilly Baker, Kaiya Hides and Isabella McDonough.

Will be interesting to see who we do take. Have seen a few suggestions that we may have a non-Academy player in mind for our first selection, which is why we traded up to Pick 15.

There is no sense whatsoever in us trading up for a pick otherwise. We must be at least considering it.

Yeah all those Academy players are later on. Baker is a 30s onwards type player and the other two are later on.

Probably just take Baker as our sole academy player then if we don't take an academy product with our first pick. Not a bad use of the 2 draft picks we have this year.
