Hope you're all good Horrie.

Thanks Ferbs. Yes all will be good. A timely reminder though for all of us men that once you turn 50, you should get the annual health check, which I have been doing for many years now, and in particular the prostate and this year the PSA went up by 25%. After several different procedures, the urologist said it needs to come out and hence last Thursday's procedure. I tried to get it delayed until this week so that I could be there and watch the girls, but he said no. So I had to listen to him and reconcile myself to the fact that watching them win on TV is still a mighty fine way to see this wonderful event.

Righto time to start planning... GC skipper has asked for a trade.

Anyone know anything about her? Work a look?
Well I can elaborate on my earlier response about her, by repeating what I wrote on the draft/trade board:

30 next year. Hasn't finished top 10 in GC's B&F last two years (and only scraped in the year before) despite being captain.

We are going to be a massive destination club

Star players will be wanting to come to us to win flags

Will be interesting to see if we can fit one in the salary cap
HYBPA?

We brought in a 2x AA defender at the end of last year. Year before that, we brought over St Kilda's reigning B&F winner. And the season before that, we signed Wall who had offers from half the comp.

Even more so now tho

We were already a destination club but that is about to magnify

I doubt it. Once Kearney and Shierlaw retire, a 32yo+ Garner will probably spend more time forward and we might have some cap space to go after a younger inside mid (of most interest would be Alyce Parker's player option with the Giants).

Until then, adding another top player seems unlikely, especially since the vast majority are contracted up until Tasmania potentially join in 2027, which poses a much more pressing list management conundrum for us.

Ok. I guess you couldn’t enjoy the last men’s cup because that was the Kangaroos. Each to their own, this is way too big a joy for me to let anything spoil it.

To me the gear says North Melbourne King/Bresnehan Kangaroos.

Settle down pettle.

You can enjoy a premiership win, but still think North Melbourne Tasmania is lame.

I’m in a taxi on the way to the airport and there’s just one flag flying now on the AFL flagpoles in South Melbourne.

I don’t love it. I wasn’t the one saying they would not buy any premiership merch because of it, petal.

Listened to the W Show on ABC with Sam Lane - whatever rubbish Chyloe has said this season, her bit near the end of this was worth bottling. Said we don’t talk enough about how North started investing in women’s football in 2010, way before the exhibition games, talked up Sonja and Bridget Barker and Laura Kane, knew all the details about the early Huddle support for junior girls footy (like that Deanna Berry was in that program) and the Mugar partnership. Awesome.
And yet we got snubbed as a foundation club.

Then when we got in (along with Geelong) they picked first in the draft and we picked last.

Keep putting those hurdles in front of us AFL, we will keep jumping over them.

They will keep doing it but I am unsure how much more they can do.

We objectively had the hardest or second hardest fixture this year, We won all our games.

We got a days less rest into the first final.

We are broadly umpired differently. In part due to our superiority, in part due to our physicality, in part because there is bias in the system against us and next to nothing will ever convince me otherwise.

74 runners up
75 flag

23 runners up
24 flag

Hopefully we can emulate the 5 grand final run albeit jagging more than 2.

Shame about the premiership merch, would have bought some up if it didn’t have North Melbourne ‘Tasmania’ on it
You might come to regret that decision. When Tasmania get their team(s) and there is no fear of relocation and in years to come, the Tasmania bit on the merch will just be a curiosity. You should buy something and stash it away until the time comes when having Tasmania on it doesn't bother you so much.

As appealing as the carrot of striving for unchanged back to back lineups would be, history gives clues to the best path to B2B.

As Pagan quoted Sheedy "find me the next 3 hungry players".

A couple of younger players pushing their way in, a high quality mature recruit- that'd do nicely to push us up again to deal with a whole competition chasing us down next year.

A situation we've not experienced as a club for almost 30 years.

I've got no idea on her contract status, but if I could take one opposition player it would be Chelsea Randall. Her and Vicki Wall in the same forward line would have teams forfeiting or appealing for a mercy rule

So what you're saying is you don't empathise with people until they've recovered enough from their traumatic past to be able to recognise the effects of that ongoing trauma.

Normally you're pretty switched on but that is very silly.
Cruel, but fair, Dinsdale. 🤣

The Brisbane board want to change the rules they are that worried about us moving forward
Lol.

They want the ground carved up into zones and make it so that players who play forwards can't play defensively.

They want to turn it into netball or AFL 9s.

Whenever this sort of stuff comes up I just can't understand it. IMHO some of the beauty in our game is that anyone can come from anywhere to win the ball. which is basically unique to the sport and these f***ers what to wash it out of the game?

It’s already a completely different sport to the male version.

This will just finish it off.
