Highlights video of our round 2 game against the Pies in 2002 feat Judd's debut. A class above in his first game.

Including bonus footage at 6:25 of Troy "Human Wrecking Ball" Wilson scrubbing a kick inside 50 and then absolutely flattening 2 Pie defenders in his follow up.

Watching that I think Matera might have dogged Lockyer. Hard to tell from the footage but I don’t think Wilson got him.

What in the seven stages of hell is this suggestion

Geez.

I thought the problem since Hurn left is a lack of leadership capable of being a Reid mentor.
You can say what you like about Nat Fyfe as a player and a person, but one thing's for sure, he ain't a leaders' arse-hat.

Simpson can be good in the media, except when he is trying to crack jokes at how bad the eagles were under his reign the last couple of years, and when he tries to rewrite history by suddenly being a know it all as to what the eagles should have drafted midfield wise… afl360 tonight a prime example

Yeah, I think Matera tripped Lockyer and then the bloke Wilson floored (Wakelin?) landed on top of him, so I just included him in the Wilson carange

I actually found it to be a pretty interesting insight into Simmo's thinking. When's the last time we had an inside-outside damaging mid who can run all day and accumulate possessions like that (albeit they don't come around very often)?

Shuey and Yeo both lean more towards being inside mids. Kelly is clearly better suited to being an attack-minded mid-forward. Gaff is a wing who was occasionally retro-fitted as an inside mid in an unsuccessful attempt to give our engine room some more running power.

What's frustrating is that Simmo seemed to do little to compensate for the lack of balance in our midfield and their various deficiencies. The closest we came is tasking Redden in 2018 with playing a dour, big-bodied defensive role to free up prime Shuey and Yeo to play more aggressively. Instead of finding similarly contest-focused mids to join that mix after the flag, we threw everything we had at TK. And we're still dealing with many of the same problems in 2025, albeit with a younger group who deserve much more leeway as they learn the ropes

Would of liked a goal review on that post high goal Holland snapped. Looked a point from that vision.

I like how the club has decided to use the new 'stalker filter' for their training pics:

The audio from the video version includes sound effects you can add such as heavy breathing and someone yelling "Hey you in the bushes!".

Pretty sure those are Keys shots from training.

Tom Cole in his natural habitat... 10m from his opponent

Former Fremantle escapee and Melbourne ruckman, Jeff White, has been popping up on my twitter feed of late with some really interesting breakdowns of centre square setups

The kind of educational stuff that shits all over 500 guesses on player movement in 6 months time

He also has a Youtube channel as well that has great rucking tips as well and some ruck analysis too.

The AFL media is catching up to likes of ESPN for narrative driven horseshit.

Footy Classified now has Live and Kicking The Agenda Setters on at the same time talking about the same things. Won't be long before each show just watches the other during the break then talks about what they are talking about. Tom Morris, Damian Barrett, Sam McClure... these guys are ambulance chasers. At least James Hird has the honesty to admit he knows nothing about Harley Reid and is just going along with the speculation like everyone else. Rory Sloane said that Harley Reid is 19 and had a poor game vs Gold Coast and the club leaders need to get around and him and set the example of what to do. Was half expecting the producers to cut to an ad break so they could remind him that just making a sensible observation on what you saw is not how it works. He's unprofessional, doesn't train and wants out of West Coast ASAP. Push the barrow!

It's pretty clear so far that Reid to a big Melbourne club this year, Ugle-Hagan out of the Dogs to a bigger name Melbourne club, Rowell to a Melbourne club and Carr to take over from Hinkley before the end of the season are among the main themes on the whiteboard of 'things we will talk about over and over until they happen (or don't)'. Part of me wishes players could announce moves mid season or years in advance like the NRL (not really possible unless you are a DFA/UFA with the rules as they are) so these clowns would have fewer things to speculate over.

I saw an article on Foxsports a couple of days ago where they were quoting Eddie McGuire saying that Essendon are coming the hardest for Harley Reid and they had a massive war chest etc etc. Then several paragraphs of the Foxports writers drooling over the possibility of Reid to Essendon at the end of this year and how great it would be.

And then they put one sentence in near the end of the article where they say that Essendon is going to have two first round picks in this years draft and they can just give us that to "appease" us and that would get the trade done. How ridiculous. Any club wanting to have a conversation with us about Reid while he still under contract would need to put up three first rounders for us to even sit at the table with them. And two of them would need to be in the top 10 post all the F/S and academy picks. And thats just to sit at the table with them and talk about it. It is hilarious they think we would hand him over for two first round picks, neither of which is likely to be in the first 10 selections after F/S and Academy picks. But that appears to be the thinking in Melbourne.

Essendon have their own pick and Melbourne's pick. Given both those teams are not as poor as at least WC/NM/St K/Rich it is unlikely either of those picks end up being right at the pointy end of the draft. Reid for 10 and 15? Yeah no thanks.

Essendon are in the position to trade future picks so the buy in for a seat at the table would need to be 3 firsts and go from there. Harley Reid out of contract in 2026 would not be a low ball trade even with the genius list managers at WC involved as every team in Victoria at least would pounce on him in the PSD or ND with a price on his head.
