True. But are we more likely to convince a player with a few years in the AFL system to stay at our club or a wide-eyed teenager who is overwhelmed by the lights of the big time?

Surely as a club we look for a player in the trade rather than just picks. It’s clear our retention of draftees hasn’t been the greatest, with many leaving after their second season. Why continue to take the same risks over and over? Less focus on the draft IMO.
