Still not sure what we are playing at but after watching thst highlights video one of Carroll's strengths appears to be that he can handball effectively while being tackled which is pretty valuable. He seems to get in the thick of the action pretty often too.
Windy, Jones, Crouch, and Dow still...
I don't get this appointment at all. Carroll seems OK but not elite.
We dont have that many list spots.
We have a midfield stacked with "ok" mids already.
We are SURELY finally going to be drafting at least one of the top midfielders in the land which adds one or possibly two to our...
These fonts had better not have anything to do with the official new logo otherwise I'll be disgusted. Moving from the timeless Futura to something akin to early 1980 low budget Sci-Fi would be up there with other classic St Kilda moves such as appointing Trout as our list manager, moving to...
I would prefer to complement Smileford with a faster type like Smith or Reid rather than another power type similar to them. Allen seems like 3rd/4th mid type, I'd be annoyed if we reached for him inside he top 10 with other top mids available.
In fact, I'd be so annoyed that I would quit my...
It could have been worse, it could have gone down the road of fantasy and started using words like "axe", "shield" and "rapier".
From there, it's only a short step towards Lord of the Rings figurines.
I love this categorisation of mids but am too lazy to think about our current mids in these three terms, does someone want to have a go?
Watch the video and sort the following players into one or more of the categories: STRIKE, ENGINE, DISRUPTOR.
(comments about not being as good as the best...
Think I'd be happier with 15 & 16 and not getting our F1 involved.
I don't see a justifiably big gap between players available at 10 & 11 and those at 15 & 16. Who are you thinking of that fits into this category?
EDIT: silly me, I was imagining we still would have 8 in that deal! Bit early...
I happened to visit the BF notable members page on the main board today and saw that Gringo2011 and Plugger35 are 12th and 16th respectively on the reactions received ladder - the sole representatives from the Saints board that I saw, but I didn't look past the top 20 or so.
Gringo notably has...
Haven't listened, won't listen.
If we won the premeirship Barrett would find some reason to put an asterisk there. I think the ghost of Spud haunts the campaigner every night. Ill informed with extreme prejudice; that applies to most of the footy media except for the ones that actually know what...
Forgive the rest of us setting our hopes higher than similar to the upper echelon of St Kilda FC 2012-2024.
Seb Ross was a great bloke but if he's our Gold Standard let's merge with Sandringham and give our AFL spot to Tassie.
I listened to the audio book of Roo's book. Was a bit weird to hear another bloke reading all his stories, but the book was OK. As the other poster said, lots of stuff about the dramas of his time with us, of which there were many.
How in the blue FLICK did Lyon end up with Trout as an assistant anyway? He rarely tolerates fools. And why tf did we promote him to list manager? What did he do to impress the CEO? Was he just cheaper?
No one is dumb enough to take a tall in the top 7 in a draft deep with quality mids; they'd trade their spot with a club who wants a mid and can give an extra pick.
We're in the sweet spot, just got to play our cards right and should come away winners.
Oh christ, Bolton sounds like a poor fit for a direct coaching position, I hope that he's changed since then. Hopefully Lyon keeps his eye on him. I wasn't a fan of this appt and this only confirms my fears.
The fact that our club would make that just about sums up why we were in the AFL wasteland for a decade. The biggest achievement our list management team can claim there is getting Essendon to pay Gresh enough for band 2 compo. Ironic thst it's a jigsaw because no one could put those pieces...
Funny you should mention it; I watched him and thought he was the Anti-Billings alpha dog we need. Mature, assured, commanding. Not a hint of shyness. For an 18-yr old about to hit the big time it's very encouraging.
I remember watching interviews of most of our first rounders Billings, Paddy...
Agree 100%
Tim was the best most reliable forward we had at our club for many many years, was a veritable dead eye Dick for at least the first half of his career until that Ben Dixon re-mortalised him with his great coaching. Starved of success yet remained loyal. Won't find a Saints fan...
