Mega Thread The 2016 Buckley Coaching Discussion

of course not. Motivation comes mainly from those around you and the leaders in your team / department. Motivation comes from having a clear goal that is attainable and then strong leaders who push the rest of the group. Unfortunately, through retirements and trades we've lost pretty much...

Gym & Misc Exercise after work

seems like the problem is going to the gym, not that you're tired. Tired is just a state of mind, plenty of times I've gone to the gym when I've come off 4 or 5 hours sleep, once I get in there I fire up and that tired thought goes away completely. I'd suggest doing something a bit more...

    Buckley can't coach

This is absolutely true. Nobody remembers Collingwood went virtually undefeated last year, all they remember is Geelong beat them in the GF. Way too early to make any call on Buckley.

You Must Train Like This In 2012

They are torture, but its only 4 minutes! I remember the first time I did it, could barely raise my feet off the ground by the last set, and yeah you have to give 100% the whole time, that's the point. You'll feel your cardio system working for a good 1-2 hours after doing the tabata...

You Must Train Like This In 2012

There's no reason why teens can't be lifting heavy...its one of those bro myths that it will somehow stunt their growth, there's no real evidence to back it up. If I could do it all over again I would start on a system like starting strength and build up from an empty bar, and do that...

Injury/Rehab Inflammation and Injuries - If You've run out of ideas...

I think its more about what you don't eat than what you do although to answer Eat lots of this: * Wild caught fish * grass fed meat / free range, organic eggs * raw, organic, dairy (milk, butter, cheese) - hard to get, but well worth it. In Melbourne you can get "bath milk" at most...

Mass Bulking up whilst remaining fit

yeah this is true for a lot of people, it does take a couple of weeks to get your body into the rhythm. I think even if you're on a more normal 9-5 routine its still tough starting out as your body is used to getting food at certain times and when it doesn't the tummy starts grumbling. I...

MAJOR SEMI FINAL (1ST LEG)-Brisbane Roar V Central Coast Mariners

Roar were very good. I fully expect them to come out in the second leg and attack again, I can't see Ange parking the bus, just not in his playbook. I think it'll be a cracking game. Fitness will play a huge part as both clubs have midweek ACL games?

Mass Bulking up whilst remaining fit

The whole system. Lift heavy 3 times a week, 16 hour fasts every day, cycling macros between workout days and non workout days. Working very well for me, dropping fat and adding muscle at the same time. He and all of his clients have proved that it can be done, plus his system is...

Injury/Rehab Inflammation and Injuries - If You've run out of ideas...

Good stuff man. White meat isn't particularly inflammatory (as is any other meat), unless its grain fed meat and you're eating the really fatty parts. The inflammatory stuff is in grains and vegetable oils. Gives those things wide berth when you're recovering. Chicken stock is also great...

Hey, yeah flaxseed is a good source of Omega-3's, however and like a lot of plant stuff the body has a hard time converting it into the useful EPA. http://primalmeded.com/2011/08/09/fat-glorious-fat-ii/ I mean if you're going to replace vegetable oils and your choice is flaxseed oil then...

    Simon Black = marvel

looks like he's adjusted his game to cope with the obvious slow downs, very much like Ryan Giggs has done at Man U. Great to watch guys like him and Fletcher kicking on into their mid 30's.

    AFL Manager??

I was working at a company a few years ago and we pitched to the company with the AFL license back then to do a Champ Manager style version for AFL. Just couldn't justify the numbers to make it work. Was going to cost too much and you're looking at a very small section of the market who would...

Tough on the outer - Malthouse

That's pretty harsh....I'd say it'd have more to do with the fact we had a lot of players coming back from injuries and who were underdone, pressing for 120 mins probably just wasn't possible and they had to adjust accordingly.

Nathan Buckley is front and square at Collingwood

Its good to see they have different styles...otherwise what was the point? It'll either be great or fail dismally. I still think coaches need to be motivating, all great leaders are. Humans aren't robots, they're people with emotions and feelings and I think over time Buckley will develop the...
