Expansion Proposals for a Truly National AFL

You don't 'give' anyone anything. You allow them to earn it, by offering them the opportunity to participate by funding their own venture. 🥱

AFL announces 4.5billion, 7 year media deal (2025-2031 inclusive)

Maybe you can sensor me. *mod note: Its censor not sensor and he cant, but I can. These views are not welcome here. I hope youve enjoyed your stay here in this thread, but it is over now. Please note this for the future. Wookie.

Nope, what one does in their private lives, opinions and actions, so long that they are legal, should be their own prerogative. Remember the 80’s? Go woke, go broke.

If women want equality, let them have it. That means, no assistance and welfare from the men's league. But we all know they can't and won't.

It has to be that way in the defence force. However, it does NOT have to be that way in Footy. You should be allowed to live in your home town and play for the team you love, if good enough. These are virtues we should espouse, not condemn.

AFL announces 4.5billion, 7 year media deal (2025-2031 inclusive)

Why not let clubs look after themselves? Let Junior Clubs & associations look after grassroots development? And let women start their own league? Just saying.

Actually you cant. You have to be injected with an experimental substance to play our great game at the highest level, thanks to Gill. Talk about terrible!!!!! But lets save that for another thread.

Expansion Proposals for a Truly National AFL

The draft is probably the biggest cancer on our league and culture that one could imagine. Imagine being told who to love, where to live, and who you must work for and at what price? And if you try to speak your mind, you'll be punished. I believe this kind of thinking was prevalent in Eastern...

Expansion Proposals for a Truly National AFL

Dont get me wrong. I never argued that money wasnt apart of success. Im saying the AFL should embrace the rich and powerful into the fold, not just as sponsors, but drivers of expansion. The only way that can be done, is to open up the league to new teams, where private equity can bank roll...

What if Junior Clubs acted as the academies? Why not just leave the stadiums as is, and let them develop over time based on success of the club?

Expansion Proposals for a Truly National AFL

A national game without clubs from 3 of the 7 states/territories, does not espouse the virtues of equal opportunity. The AFL should open up the league to expansion and Free enterprise, as the the most efficient mode of growth. IF the market does not have the appetite or will to drive expansion...

Expansion Proposals for a Truly National AFL

It is an interesting topic, that is, whether the big strong clubs would transition from member ownership to private ownership. I'd say, it would only happen if the club went bust, or was struggling to compete. IMO, the 'mega clubs' would continue as member owned clubs for the next few decades at...

Please detail how North Melbourne did so well during this period? Also, what would happen if say Clive Palmer bankrolled lets say, Cairns, and if Hydro Tasmania bankrolled North Tasmania? Would that make them powerclubs aswell? Or if Ziggy Forrester bankrolled Darwin etc etc. Why is the big...

Exactly, he would probably bankroll the Cairns team himself. Therefore they'd have enough dough for a good stadium and a bloody decent team. Fantastic!!! nb. At least they wouldnt be vaxxed. Probably end up being the last team standing.

I dont think the Costa Group shares your mentality. And if you look at the MFC back in the 1950's, we were the Mega Club. And going forward, Sydney and Brisbane will be power clubs. Sorry Bostonian, I dont share your pessimestic view of our game.

No salary cap. No draft. Again, which of the following clubs would be successful, and which ones would struggle to be competitive in a 2 div league? Richmond Tigers Essendon Bombers Adelaide Crows West Coast Eagles Collingwood Magpies Sydney Swans Carlton Blues Brisbane Lions...

Ok, lets make it simple for you. Next to the club, please write whether it would be a strong club, or struggling club, to see if your comment of only 4-5 Mega clubs is accurate. Richmond Tigers Essendon Bombers Adelaide Crows West Coast Eagles Collingwood Magpies Sydney Swans...

Take the OP's scenario, with 2 Divisions of 12 teams each, assuming Hobart, North Tasmania, Darwin, Canberra, Cairns & Perth make up the 24 clubs. Which of the 24 clubs would be a Mega Clubs and which would struggle to ever be promoted to Div1? A serious question to you, before you brilliantly...

Tasmania If 2 of Tassie's oldest clubs, North Hobart and Clarence Roos, combine you get.... North Kangaroos, Blue and White with Red Kangaroo Logo

Why not just have Hobart United FC, let them start in Div2, and keep North in Melbourne, and let them compete at the level which they deserve and are sustainable, which may also be in Div2.. Win/Win for everyone, and we dont have to have another Fitzroy situation.

Draft. hahahahahaha Nah mate, no draft. Humans have free will, and play for who they want to. As it should be. For example, imagine a draft in any other workplace. It a pure authoritarian measure which gives no civil rights to the players. Commie policies.

I'm watching the 'Sunderland till I die' documentary on Netflix. Crowds of over 30,000 people are known to watch Div3 games, when supporter expectations are high. This is for clubs based in cities with populations of less than 300k. Just saying.

Tasmania Congratulations on Tassie License. Mens team to enter 2028. Womens team TBA. Other details TBA 3/5

Tasmania can't sustain two teams under the current system of mandatory salary cap and fixed license. However, under a divisional system, a population of 250k football loving people can easily sustain a team. Just look at Newcastle, Sunderland etc.

Looks like a good Div2 ground, if only the AFL had a policy of equal opportunity, instead of equality.
