Prior to opposition supporters kicking in money, can someone provide me with the answer as to how much money have Ansett and De Roach (as major shareholders, or any other influential north supporters) have kicked into the club in the last year?
I'm not trying to be 'smart', but I believe it...
Don't tell the original poster about the Commonwealth Games that pushed footy off the 'G for the first six weeks last year. He could go 'postal', on all of us.
I like where you guys are taking this!! I started the post seriously, but must admit have got a couple of chuckles out of it.
What if two g*ay AFL players hooked up, adopted/surrogate kid, whatever, then turned out to be a good player?
Also, wouldn't Carlton be shattered if the...
If this has been discussed previously, fair enough. But just curious as to others viewpoint in relation to the following hypothetical. I'm dressing it up a bit to sound remotely plausible.
Good-ordinary player coming through the Under 18 ranks, however from a broken home, legally emancipates...
Also noted they got the story off the AAP wire service, so wonder if the story is on any other news websites?
The club / names can't be distributed in Victoria, I don't think it matters where published, would expect this thread to be pulled soon enough.
Are the finals at night? I thought that was the controversy a year ago that the finals were in the morning to please US audiences?
I'm sure Vlad at headquarters is onto it?? Maybe not.
What about multi channeling through Digital??
Take your point on board, but the mantra of Pratt is not to sign the best available, but the best, case in point, Carlton nabbing Swann. If he can afford to pay out Pagan, I'm sure it's pocket change to pay out Malthouse. I'll be surprised, but you never know.
Agree I think Casey is as bad as they get (maybe above Darren Berry), one of his favourites being 'The free kick has gone unwhistled'. GRRR.... Also notice whenever a player is lining up for goal or just kicked one, he will bring out a mindless fact 'x player kicked 5 against y club in...
Re: Geelong to lose Major Sponsor
VFL/AFL yes, world sport no. Slazenger balls at Wimbledon hold that honour.
Think it is a tad early to say Ford will be pulling out though, although they have had their sponsorship diluted somewhat from the Toyota sponsorship of the AFL.
Will need to be a fair redevelopment of north sydney oval, ground is very small, so much so the games played there are 15 v 15.
Also I don't see the need to redevelop North Sydney, when the Olympic Stadium is ready to go (although dimensions aren't perfect there either!)
In regards to this, I'm pretty sure the agreement between Telstra Dome and AFL specifies not only a specified minimum number of games, but also a certain portion of those games as guaranteed high drawing games. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Seems that a lot of commentators this weekend have gone out of their way in calling the aboriginal players 'indigenous'. Also the terminology of 'Indigenous Round'. Is it offensive to say aboriginal now? If so, when did it change? Why did no one tell me?
As far as I remember from my school...
I can only guess 'simple economics'. Get as much out of the commentators that are employed. As someone said upthread if seven had the 2nd Sunday game they would then have to employ the 2nd set of commentators.
If I'm not mistaken, Sandy does some voice over work on the footy telecasts though.
Yup Sydney were robbed, the Eagles were high as a kite
Anthony Rocca's behind the stick job was a goal
The ball Wayne Harmes flicked back was over the line
We woz robbed
etc etc....
If you can't tell I'm being sarcastic
Big Jack still going around??
I seem to remember watching an ABC programme (possibly Australian Story) where he said that computers were essentially for idiots and he was a paper and pen man. Saw it just when he was coming out of his bankruptcy.
Now he's doing that show on the Internet...
I'm surprised the AFL hasn't got more into games of this nature. I know there was a Kevin Sheedy branded game about 5 years ago.
The soccer management games (Football / Championship Manager) are pretty big and seems to be something the AFL is missing out on.
But it's all relative isn't it? Let's offer '6 points' for a goal in soccer and lets offer 1 if you miss either side of a goal post. Each sport can co-exist.
I will declare I went to the World Cup in Germany last year and loved it, something I can't really relate it to anything AFL, including...
