It's gone way to far and putting me off watching. All players do it and it's within the rules but it's not how Tennis should be played.
Likewise the on court coaching removes one of the great things about Tennis.
Anyway, old man rant over
I think we will see more a move that players are first and foremost contracted to franchises and then released for International duties. It will be the end of the traditional Cricket Australia contract.
With the scheduling I don't see how that works for example in Australia. Either the test...
I haven't checked the stats but I thought Ollie Pope was alright and he stuck around until the end. We won't sign him for next year because the Ashes will be on so he won't be available. I think we will try to get someone who can keep and bat in the top 5 again. Nielsen is there as a back up.
It seems like we will be active. Pace bowlers will obviously be the main target.
If we lose either Lynn or Darcy Short we will need to replace them.
Liam Scott isn't mentioned as he was a top up player but you would think we might try to sign him.
All good names and you expect they start there but they are limited
1) They will always try to use someone from their own network if possible. Hughsey probably isn't keen about going in but it would be part if his contract.
2) The person has to see a benefit in going in to help their career...
A bit light on again for celebrities. Dave Hughes is by far the biggest and he's only there because he is on Channel 10 and probably told he had to go.
It is hard to get someone too well known to commit to an unknown length of time and give up their other commitments.
I am sure they have...
The Strikers only have 9 which includes. Boyce, Thornton, Kelly and Nielsen. By the end of the tournament none of those four were even in our best eleven.
Very poor season. Some real brain fades last njght. In our ten retained players under contract we have guys like Boyce, Kelly and Nielsen which doesn't excite me much.
I didn't go on the middle Saturday, I think the problem in previous years is the lack of matches. Plenty of juniors but any court with a 'main' game on it was packed. In some ways maybe that's why it works as the corporates don't go to watch the tennis. They stay in the bars ect.
An old post of mine that goes way back further than the current investigation. I doubt anyone is rocked by the news Bernie is involved with match fixing in some form. His tennis money ran out years ago. He is the perfect target as he doesn't even care if he wins or loses.
I just watched Saville and Tu upset the number 8 seeds. They won fairly comfortably.
They play the winner of Duckworth/Vudic v Kygios/kokkinakis. A good draw.
Draper is a good player and has lifted.
No doubt Kokkinakis is injured but feels like it's been a safety net for him his whole career. Sometimes you are just not good enough.
