I think we'll find Hammer takes Battle's role and does just fine.
Hastie will be a player. Looks like a smaller version Gilbo with better skills and footy IQ.
If we had 2 proper KPDs he could conceivably play 3rd tall when he's strong enough but we'd want him attacking instead.
So how then does one also trade that future 1st?
How bout:
43 for - MacLobster and a F4th
F3, and F2nd swap for - Soldo
26, F1st, F4th for - 9 and F3rd
Ugly, but it works.
Smillie would be an obvious take and very welcome. That pick 8 is an interesting one. I have the feeling Travaglia is very high on our radar, more so after the combine. Lindsey would also be excellent but you couldn't slide much with any assurance. The idea we could grab p9 is by far and away...
That analysis doesn't work. Our ability to project improvement of our own team is probably running below 50% accuracy, and our ability to project other clubs is lower again.
Take that already very low odds equation and add injuries, morale, tactics etc, etc and it becomes futile.
Generally all...
A poster on the draft board said Lalor had never done a preseason due to cricket commitments so he'll need a big fitness component when drafted. To still manage being in the top group says there's a lot to work with.
Agreed.
I think that's the plan for sure. I think a big boy line-up of King, Marshall, Soldo, Hammer and Howard looks very competitive.
Coops, Wood, Wilkie, Ari* as mediums also looks good. Youth and experience.
Hammer fills Batts role.
Wood fills Hammers role
Ari fills Woods role.
I'm not sure l like that as l want Max at CHF but it can be done with what we have. The resurgence of Coops gives us options. It's also still possible that Membrey stays on a 1 year deal.
What depleted midfield? Some of our best games had Steele, Stocker, Clark, Jones, Dow and Crouch didn't play.
If we're adding MacLobster, Soldo and Pou(Version 2) then we're already better. If we can keep our players fit we're better again.
Throw Windy and Hugo into that mix too.
Granted...
It's not a bad outcome at all, but l can't see enough difference between the various pick 2 candidates and the various pick 8 candidates to justify burning a F1stRDP, especially if there's a possibility of just swapping it for another FRDP this year.
Recruiters will have their own ideas. They...
We'll never know.
My belief is that we have enough options to replace Battle and it's not seen as a critical issue internally. Mac Lobster and Soldo are the important deals to get through.
Also suggestions that we might have SSP options requires a list spot be kept available.
We're in a good spot so no need to make changes unless it's clearly advantageous.
I'd want to move our 2nd into the top 20 as part of any deal. It'll be about p30 on draft night and isn't to be ignored as a valuable asset.
So: 8, 26, F1st
For: 2, & 20
= 2, 7, 20
I still think thats a bad...
If he stays on track he'll be getting close in the 2nd half of next season. If not, he'll probably be delistef.
He's started to fill out now but could still go the way of Tom Campbell if it doesn't translate to athletic ability.
In their first couple or years we thought those guys were great pick ups, then injuries happened. We still haven't seen the best of Clark but if he can stay on the park l think he'll still prove valuable.
I don't think it's a coincidence that our drafting got better at the same time our...
All depends on who they want. You wouldn't gamble and shift 8 to 15 but maybe 12 if you think your info is good. Personally, l would just use the picks and not get too cute about it.
