Soapy V you previously mentioned the Campo twins as being viewed positively internally. Can you expand on that at all?
My personal opinion is that they will both surprise a few people next year & will play at a level higher than expected.
I agree with the philosophy but who'd want to be an under 21 player at Carlton?
A) There's a core group of players who get picked in the AFL side regardless of form or fitness. Young guys are held in the VFL way too long.
B) Even when they do get a chance, they get dropped after a game or...
Yeah, probably true. He has ticked a few boxes for me though. He seems hungry, humble & genuinely excited to have the job. The fact that he has the guts to say that pre-season will be tough & that everyone will need to lift on his first day is also a good sign. I'm happy for him to set high...
This saved me some typing. Fully agree. I was slow to fully take to Voss being appointed but he has convinced me with his interviews. Hoping we'll see him speak freely and be true to himself.
That's not what I was getting at. Your other points are obvious but what I was asking was about high-quality talent where having Voss as a coach would make them choose Carlton over another team.
This is a genuine question & part of my lukewarm reaction to Voss.
Is there any evidence anywhere to suggest that either highly regarded assistant coaches or talented players would actively try to get to Carlton now to be under Voss?
That is my main reservation.
Not massively excited or massively disappointed. Good luck to Vossy. As a member, I hope he succeeds & we play finals next year. Maybe some new line coaches & players will raise the excitement level. Maybe he is the exact sort of coach we need. WFK
I still think with Sayers & Cook we are in a...
No, I said Clarko OR Lyon + etc. The point was that either way, it's a great result in my opinion. Deisel has already said that the players need to work harder, Sayers has been very proactive and we have secured a quality CEO.
I think the build-up to next season will be our best in many years...
No doubt the opportunity to do a 3-year apprenticeship under Cook would attract top talent. This is potentially a significant, long term win for the club.
That was tongue in cheek but keep adding your awesome contributions. Where would the forum be without people thinking they are superior to others & posting like they have some divine knowledge.
