Every good game we get out of Fyfe is a bonus.
The squeeze for midfield positions is intense. Currently I have Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Fyfe and Johnson as our inside brigade to start the season. That leaves Brodie, JOM and Erasmus trying to find another spot in the team (there’s hope of a...
What I would like to see.
FB: Walker, Pearce, Ryan
HB: Clark, Cox, Wagner
C: Sharp, Brayshaw, Chapman
HF: Freddy, Treacy, Switta
FF: Walters, Amiss, Jackson
R: Darcy, Serong, Young
I/C: Johnson, Aish, Fyfe, Erasmus
S: Emmett
Probably too many mids on the bench, but expect Erasmus and Fyfe to...
I went to Cockburn. But I am reliably informed they were at freo instead. I was heading down south from cockburn so didn’t make much sense schlepping back freo way.
I’ll try pop along on weds. If 7am is a typo I’ll be one grumpy bugger.
Covers the ground very well. Fast. Gets into good positions, keeps our width and demands to be used in transition and from stoppage.
Has a long penetrating kick. The only thing I saw that I could criticise was he had a few blind bombs long into the 50; slightly acres lite.
Also seems to have...
He impressed me today. Unfortunately, we won’t know the truth until the season is underway.
I was optimistic on what I saw from
Henry last year and Sharp stood out to me more today than Liam. Make of that what you will.
Training notes
Notable absentees: Fyfe
Walking casual laps: Sturt and JOM. Sturt with a small dressing over his left knee from his clean out last week.
Away from the main group: Freddy did some runs and then headed to the gym. Cox did a heap of running. Difficult to see from the far side but...
Love to read this. After his 2022 season I had NOD pencilled in to fill that attacking wing position for the next decade. Fell off an absolute cliff last year. Needs a big pre season to re take that position.
Doesn’t Walters comfortably hold that title? Amiss too. But I see your point our other forwards struggle with accuracy.
As a winger I think he can get on the end of transition plays and still kick goals. He likes running in from 50. We do rob the the forward line of something but I think it...
Our wings are the glaring deficiency. There’s been plenty of names thrown up to fill the void.
The more I think about it the more I’m warming to the idea of Freddy on the wing. If we use him in that role effectively he could be a real point of difference for our ball movement and provide a...
First half observations
NOD looking more like the player we expected at the end of last year
Wagner in the middle playing well, wouldn’t mind him training on a wing in the pre season
Brodie is good in tight but his lack of spread is being exploited at WAFL level.
Reidy is no mug. Extend...
Expecting Jackson to surge hard in the upcoming 8 matches. Was pretty average for the first month or so but goes on a tear from here. Coaches votes tell the story.
Glad Worner gets a proper crack in the 22.
Don’t mind the rotating of Johnno and Ras the back half of the year. Continue development, but manages the load for them both.
Keep refreshing this in the hope that Liam has put pen to paper.
Sadly, get the feeling it’s inevitable he goes. Shame feel like he’s the outside class that we need.
