I would be such a turnaround for Fyfe to stay fit, find it hard to believe, even with all the positive reports.
It’s really not worth getting excited for. It’ll be a bonus and week by week proposition.

I get more excited about the young one’s improving.

Fyfe is absolutely flying atm. Been told we are really happy with the pre season, particularly our midfield. Got some real depth now. I’m quietly bullish on this season. I wasn’t this time last year.
I have a feeling about this one.

We’re all heavy weigh champions until we get punched in the mouth
Didn’t Fyfe miss out on his first Brownlow for punching someone in the mouth?

Edit: I know he’d already been rubbed out for the head clash earlier in the season, but the two weeks he missed for the dropped knees head high meant he didn’t poll the most votes as well.

Imo how Fyfe goes dictates how far we do. I think we’ve all forgotten what he’s capable of.
I havent..I got laughed at by my Eagles mates when i said If Fyfe can play 17 plus games Freo will play finals.

Yeah he's that good. An 80% Fyfe is still nearly the best player on the ground.

I'm of the opinion of Fyfe will never get back to his best. But, if he can give us a couple of games near that mark then that could easily be an extra couple of wins.

I’m sure plenty of here were saying the same about Michael Walters this time last year.

He wasn’t quite back to the best he’s ever been but he was still back to a point where he was very very good.

Tbf Walters did actually play alright in the second half of 2022 so people probably should have seen it coming. Fyfe is coming from further back but as they say - form is temporary, class is permanent.

Mundy was also written off by many about game 250ish

Wonder if we have managed to practice a new kick in strategy?

We need him to play like pendles does for the pies. Not main man or game breaker but solid link man thru the middle
His experience will be valuable (we’ve missed mundy and Fyfe could do what he did in 2022)

Every good game we get out of Fyfe is a bonus.

The squeeze for midfield positions is intense. Currently I have Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Fyfe and Johnson as our inside brigade to start the season. That leaves Brodie, JOM and Erasmus trying to find another spot in the team (there’s hope of a forward split for the latter two), vying for the sub role or playing at Peel.

Pendlebury kicks like Mundy though. Much easier to get away with a lack of speed if you’ve got great skill - that way you’re still an asset.

I think Fyfe needs to play like the Fyfe of old tbh. The bash and crash style of game is what he excels at. If he gets injured then so be it but if it takes quite a few games for it to happen we’ll win more than we lose.

For the love of God please find the nearest piece of wood and touch it immediately.

If fyfe is suddenly playing so well, isn't a blight on his opposition? Which is us.
😭
A lot of the training reports have said it is a hotly contested battle in the midfield with lots of repeat stoppages, which means we are managing to stop Fyfe often. The highlights show when one midfield gets the release to the outside which gives the impression our defensive strategy isn’t working, but if that’s only happening 3-4 times in a 30 minute sim, I’m ok with that.

If Fyfe breaks open the season like a sledgehammer it will be very important that as much noise is made about it in the media as possible because we want the umpires looking for Fyfe when they give out votes and they tend to award their votes on who was expected to poll - this is why some players have had really good years go unnoticed until later in the season, finish top five and then win the following year.

Fyfe can win a brownlow with half a season, we need to make sure the umpires are dishing out 3 votes like it's C. Judd memorial round.

For two reasons... firstly, a three time Brownlow medalist is a massive deal and to span that across nearly a decade will make the achievement all the more impressive. Fyfe will be a brand Fremantle trades off for decades.

And secondly, the more the media and opposition coaches are talking about how do they stop Fyfe the less they are putting into Johnson and if Matthew is scooping up every crumb that Nathan drops our forwards will be smothered with quality ball coming in quick.
