The pressure and effort in our forward half was dismal. The ease of which the Essendon defenders found each other and then moved the ball forward was laughable. It was what made our defence look out of position all day and gifted Essendon too many easy goals. Without Jonas back there...
Clearances 7-14
Contested Possessions 33-43
Yet... Inside 50s 13-11
Our complete lack of effort and intent is making a very average side look like stars going forward. Bad news if this doesn't turn around.
While Kingy does at times go a little crazy on the stats, I enjoyed how he tried to describe the tactics of teams and gave some insight that basically no other footy show does. Hopefully Roos will be providing some of this during the year.
I'd love for them to broaden the scope of their...
I think the extra work on his body playing midfield last year contributed to some injuries so I'd imagine he'll play predominantly forward with maybe 20-30% time in the midfield. He's lethal at the centre bounce with all that space!
A brilliant read from Martin Flanagan, one of footy's best writers. Your mob must be proud to have a such a great book to always remember the '16 GF and to have the next generations hopefully read it and understand what it all meant. What a day for Aussie Rules it was!
Best of luck in 2018.
Gerard Whateley's new show on SEN made mention in the first episode that Ken Hinkley will be a regular contributor this year. Excellent news as Kenny and Gerard have had some great chats on ABC Radio over the years.
I went the Camries vs. GWS game on Easter Sunday in 2014 and I think there were 45,000 there. I see no reason why we won't have a similar figure at our game tomorrow. Hopefully more!

Really enjoyed this read from Jonathan Horn about the Hawks.
I think for structure he'll get the gig as the defensive forward that Gus often played. Even when Gus was out of form last year Kenny stuck with him so it seems to be a role he really values. I can see the Hoon doing a great job of it. He also seems to have some real goal sense which is a bonus...
Did anyone else see Hodge's attempted punch to Jonas' face? Was in the third term I think, on the north-west wing in front of where I was sitting. Very dirty move from Hodge!
Interesting to see if the MRP pick it up.
It might sound bleeding obvious but this is an enormous game!
0-3 and I don't see us making the top 4 as the magic number of loses to make top four is historically six. Last year Fremantle came fourth with a 16-6 record, 2013 Sydney came fourth with a 16-5-1 record and 2012 Collingwood were...
Was the Russell Ebert goal thing supposed to be like the ceremonial first pitch in baseball? I don't mind the idea of someone kicking the first 'goal' each home game. I could get into that.
NTUA should not be touched again.
We have played Fremantle four times since we last played either North Melbourne, Brisbane, West Coast, Geelong or GWS. That just seems odd! Making for a great rivalry though.
Disappointed we couldn't get the win tonight but we all know this season is a marathon and I feel we're gonna see a lot...
The only changes from the side that went down to Hawthorn will be Ryder for Moore and Young for O'Shea I think. Thus:
FB: Hombsch - Carlile - Jonas
HB: Broadbent - Trengove - Pittard
C: Hartlett - Wines - Polec
HF: White - Westhoff - Wingard
FF: Ryder - Schulz - Monfries
FOL: Lobbe - Boak - R...
I remember several years back Carlton won the NAB Cup then went on to 'win' the wooden spoon. That kinda sums up the pre-season to me. Bring on the real stuff!
