With the drafting of Humphries and Edwards last year, any chance we are trying to position ourselves for the best chance to try and trade for Harley Reid in a couple of years time. More WA kids this year perhaps.
The introduction of future pick trading being extended to 2 years will have an effect on clubs losing free agents. They are now way more likely to match and force a trade. For instance if Butters were to leave in 2 years time and Port were due a compensation pick of say pick 10, they would match...
Isn't there talk of them swapping there 2 picks for ports pick 13.
I just reckon there will be a handful of clubs attempting to trade into the late part of the first round and our future pick won't be the most attractive
According to my dogs source, Brad Close was the player they initially wanted included in the Smith deal. Apparently we had absolutely no interest in that suggestion.
If the 2 clubs do a trade for Oliver and publicly say Geelong are paying the majority of the wage, would we ever know if that was actually the case. Melbourne could pay half and sell the story to the footy world that they are paying zero.
The only certainty if Smith goes to the draft is the bulldogs don't have a first round pick in a strong draft and get zero for a good player. The deal will get done.
