tbh the game where nsw were down 4-2 or 2-0 and missed a penalty from 50 to tie it up.
QLDs run was sad for the game. Especially considering the first half of the run had a lot to do with Greg Inglis.
I dont get this attitude.
Its not about being a snob its about having limited time and spending what time you have on the better product.
Its the same with all sports, people watch the best / better leagues, same with the AFL compared to lower leagues. Its not about being a snob its about what...
Yep, AFL/Soccer players are so athletic they would cake walk over NRL, SR, American football players and NBA players with their combination of size, power and strength. :P
Skill tends to be different in each sport and rarely transferable.
As a raiders fan, I agree with a lot of what you say.
- soliola decision he reefed it out and it went backwards.
- paulo, I agree that it was knocked out by a manly player but not really a strip, the strip penalty that cost us against manly the first time round against tapine was much worse.
Maybe originally his name helped, but after 10 losses out of 11, you are right, he is not getting picked on his name. He is getting picked because he plays for the roosters and the roosters are going well and he is looking good in that setup.
Last night was easily his best origin performance...
Are you an easts fan?
I think you hit the nail on the head with Tupou and most teams will have at the very least one or two backs with some good strike rates. Given how strong the chooks record has been over the past 6 or 7 years with a few GFs , minor premierships and premiership, probably...
A strange piece, to quote Tom Heenan, "They have given white Australians more than they deserve and it’s about time we honoured them and their game in a more meaningful way."
For someone who sees australia as a divide between white Australians and aboriginal Australians, referring to them like...
if not pearce
then
maloney / reynolds
maloney / moylan
maloney / hayne
Pearces major problem is that he doesnt play wide very well, he has a very strong direct game and short ball game. But if QLD do there home work and run a tight defensive line leaving space on the edges pearce is too much...
What the Tasmanian AFL side arguments miss, or fail to answer is.
Why would the AFL spend resources (split the tv pie further) to put a side in a place where they already receiving the eyeballs and support? If they are going to spend resources are they not better spending on converting heathen...
I would play adam reynolds at half
or jimmy maloney at half with either hayne or moylan at 5/8
Pearce is definately a no go. but as he hasnt had a crack at a dog this year he will get another run.
Watching these guys this year, they need to either re-do their rosters or do something with their attack.
They only have one way to beat teams and that is make/hope the other side play like absolute shite.
Eh, its all in good fun, I think a lot AFL fans and RL fans have a lot more in common and a lot more mutual respect then alot of people give them credit for, reading garlic munchers post about southern nsw is good, they are just two games for kids to play and run around and have fun facing a lot...
Thank you for this post.
I am fine with you knocking rugby league or whatever sports, but equally you should be fine with me defending rugby league.
The main reason I post here, is I think it helps to provide a voice from a different circle then perhaps what a lot of people are used to...
Your preaching to your choir.
And your subtle dig was a nice touch but tbh I think AF as a code would rather move away from using female terms in a negative manner.
I fail to see how union v league in melbourne is relevamt to this thread about the barassi line except for people to make negative inferences about league.
eh, state of mind is relative, especially over the internet ;)
Though I do not think it is unreasonable to repost the posts from which I made my opinion, especially as that opinion was being challenged.
Regarding my comment regarding the KKK, I stand by it, just like Adam Goodes likes to call out racism every once in a while so do I. If people are going to post commentary that casts negative inferences on polynesians simply because they are polynesian then that is what is going to happen.
IMO...
I am surprised you would infer or concede that Rugby League is more "manly" then AF.
Rugby League also has less contact versions of the game:-
- touch footy
- Tag
That said, I agree with the general notion that non contact sports are far easier to grow in terms of participation numbers. Oddly...
