Mega Thread Official 2012 Draft discussion thread: All drafts complete.

'Determination' and 'Physical Strength' are the key ingredients. I am convinced. Players get put through all types of physical and mental tests prior to drafting. How tall are you?? What's your BMI look like?? How high can you jump? How fast can you run 20 metres? How far can you get in a beep...

Roast Gardner and risk of a board spill

I did, and I believe he was the one who probably booted me. The guy's a prize tool and the biggest troll on the board. Could fit the knowledge he has of AFL football onto a shortbread biscuit. But anyway, it worries me that people connected with the club are using supporter forums such as...

Roast Gardner and risk of a board spill

Hysterical?? Buddy, i'm just illustrating what happened. Why are you so offended? Do you think it's reasonable to be kicked off a supporter forum because someone doesn't agree with what you say??

Roast Gardner and risk of a board spill

Demonland huh.. Well, it does seem that there are a range of people who post there that have some sort of connection to the club. Cameron Schwab's posted a couple of times, and some of the admins are fairly generous donors to the club it seems. I actually got kicked off the site for (I...

Autopsy Free agency & trade period review - The hindsight has 20/20 vision thread

In Pedo's own words, the role is "called playing a link forward and ruck". Ask Neeld what that means exactly. I assume it means he's going to be doing a lot of presenting across half-forward, and using his size and marking ability to win possession, bring crumbing smalls into the game, and...

Autopsy Free agency & trade period review - The hindsight has 20/20 vision thread

Pedersen is 25 and was not recruited to be surplus, he is worth a 2nd rounder. He has been given a definate role in the team that is currently vacant, and I assume will play 22 games next year if fit. A good, underrated player who will be an important player in our side. Stefan Martin was worth...

Toast I don't care what the media says....

If the media ran AFL clubs we'd all be out of business. I think you're absolutely right though, but some around here are getting hung up on draft selections and weighing up individual trades based on dubious perceptions. Fact is we've cleared deadwood, sent a message to the playing group that...

what would you expect for Gysberts?

Pedersen will achieve more at MFC than Gys ever would've...a very underrated player who'll help our structure. A turtle could outperform Gysberts at training. So on that basis, I think we've done very well..

Autopsy Free agency & trade period review - The hindsight has 20/20 vision thread

Well i guess hindsight's only useful once you've actually seen it all unfold, but hey.. We've done very well imo... Profited from the Scully debacle, and brought in some players who will actually train hard, compete and add something to the culture of the club. It could've been better though...

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

We didn't get ripped off. The players who've gone were useless. We should be thankful we got a decent draft pick, and a few players who will have a red hot crack and actually contribute to our team. Let me just say, if you're Jordan Gysberts and bringing up the tail in every single time...

Scape Goat Cale Morton - so long, farewell, G&GF

I think that was against Essendon??? I was there. Only time i've seen him with eyes for the ball and he got crunched. 10 week enforced holiday.. How ironic?? It's like that X-Files episode, 'X-Cops'... If you can't keep your fear at bay, it'll manifest in reality..

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

Perhaps. He's not the worst for sure.. It's just going to be difficult to fit him in considering what's ahead of him. The other problem is that i'm not convinced he can play key defence at senior level. Seems to be undersized for a full back, and unless you have elite disposal, i'm just not sure...

    Scape Goat G&GF Coach

All the information coming in about Gysberts, Martin and Morton suggests that they had to go. They were ordinary on-field and even worse off. Why we're debating over why we didn't get better deals for these overrated players i'll never know. Dawes, Pedo, Rodan, and Byrnes are all in our...

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

Frawley, McDonald, Garland, Watts, Sellar, Dunn and Pedersen (if required) are all in front of him as tall defenders. He's going to be coming into his 3rd season as an AFL player 8th in line as a tall defender at the 16th ranked club in the competition. I don't think he's done enough to...

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

If that's true, then Dean Bailey is even dumber than I thought. It would at least explain why they got their guernsey's upgraded to #26 & #32. I couldn't imagine either of those players were being chased by other clubs, why do that? Nicho probably deserves a spot considering he's a hard worker...

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

I think we could delist another 4. Cook, Bate, Pettard and possibly Davis, which would leave us with 4, 26, 49, 53 and 2 rookie upgrades (possibly Nicho and Magner?)

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

Tynan was pick #52 in last years draft. I assume we'll go 4, 26 F#S, 49, 53, then whether or not we use the 70's picks depends on whether or not someone slides, otherwise 2 or 3 of our rookies will be upgraded. Pick 49 & 53 will be very useful I think. Good players always slide, and I back...

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

We got Tom McDonald at pick #53 2 years back, and there's more depth in this draft due to the GWS draft pre-listing concessions back then. I'd back us to get a couple of good players at 49 & 53. Let's face it, we would've delisted Stef Martin next season anyway and got nothing.

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

I think Rodan was the alternative to Ray. I doubt we were planning on bringing both in.. Don't really agree with all the doom and gloom here re: trading period. I must be in the minority who thinks it's been mostly successful, considering what players we realistically had a crack at. If the...

Traded Gysberts to North for Pedersen and Draft Pick

A number of our players actually improved significantly from a personal perspective, but I guess I don't need to tell you that seeing as you're clearly an expert on all things MFC.

Mega Thread Official 2012 Trade period discussion thread - 8th-26th October

I think the problem may have been that our tradeable players were just not high enough on the 'wanted' lists of opposition clubs. North had been chasing Boak, then Caddy, then Jacobs amongst others. Gys was a fallback option for them. Brisbane were chasing Tippett then Dawes, and Martin was a...

I'm not sure. There was like 10-12 players uncontracted going into the free agency/draft period...having said that we've actually moved on contracted players. If it was about freeing up space then there's a whole bunch of uncontracted players that could be just crossed off the list to make...

Kevin Sheahan rated him ahead of Jack Martin fwiw..Said he was the best 17 y.o prospect in Aus. I'm happy with the deal. We get to train him up for 12 months so he's ready to go R1 2014. His type are rare so happy to pay w/h pick #3 for a genuinely elite KP talent.
