Traded Gysberts to North for Pedersen and Draft Pick

Excessive is determined by his value. No one else wants him, he wants to go home so whats the point in trying to make him change his mind by offering him better terms when no one else would offer him anything anyway? Christ, you can be as pig headed as tef, and also don't mind the personal barbs. Nice.

I admire your patience even responding to this tool. So full of shit.

'Excessive' is a loaded term used to make a rhetorical argument more convincing.

The point is that you and I don't know what he was offered. All we do know is that we lost a proven depth midfielder for nothing, and gave away a ready-made player with market value for an unproven midfield depth player.

I don't care how 'talented' the kid is, he isn't pushing ahead of Swallow, Adams, Cunnington, Ziebell for a genuine inside role.

He *might* push past Bastinac for that middle linkman role, but only because Basti doesn't seem to know where the gym is at Arden St.

Then we've got Wells pushing through the middle as an allround player and Atley is going to tear this comp apart one day.

The outside wings are where we seriously struggle for talent. If he can't outrun and outpossess Gibson and Anthony, he would want to buy a nice property somewhere between Arden St and North Ballarat.

Pretty much what I was getting at. You can never have too much talent, but I'm not sure why you targetted Gysberts when you are well stocked for inside mids.

As for pushing past Bastinac, I don't see it any time soon. Gysberts is far from a gym junkie himself and Bastinac is a much better runner and probably a better user of the ball as well while also having the ability to play a shut down role. What I was getting at by saying Gysberts is talented was purely that, not that he'll walk in to your midfield. You'll have a real player in a year or two if he can knuckle down and build his tank.

Except in two years every other young mid on our list will have had... two years to improve themselves.

Meh, I don't even care that much, to be honest.

Hope it turns out to be a tremendous coup. And I also hope things work out for Pedo at Melbourne. In fact I pray for Melbourne.

It's been a pretty ordinary trade period for North and I am resigned to another year of mediocrity in 2013.

2014, though, and I don't care who is at the helm, the mids will have had all the gametime they need to excel, Wells will be at the end of his peak, Petrie in his twilight, hopefully Boomer is still there, and anything less than top four will be unacceptable.

Un-ac-ceptable.

jizz will challenge gibbo and LA for their spots. plus he adds to our depth in case we get any injuries to our midfield.
Good pickup and is still young with room for improvement

Pedersen will play more games than Gysberts. I think its a good trade for the D's.
Gysberts will play with injuries and suspensions. Jacky always seems to get a holiday midseason for attacking the ball, wait for this new hitting the leg rule with people running into him as he dives for it.

Yeah i agree with that

Gysberts gets puffed out crossing the road, wont survive at North just like he didnt survive at the MFC.

Not saying im excited about Pederson though, I have no idea if he will be any good or not.

What happened to NM needing to put pick 15 on the table to get superstar Jordan Gysberts?! Lol

Kangaroos are heavily into Jordan Gysberts.

pick 11 a few years ago, career average of 20 touches and 5 tackles.

They better be putting pick 15 on the table, or they are kidding themselves.

Pederson and 15 for Gysberts and 49

Thats a fair deal, but Scott doesnt do fair deals thats why nobody wants to deal with North.

This is a safe trade for Melbourne, riskier for North though with potential for a "bigger upside".

Pedo will probably provide more to Melbourne than what Dawes will next year.

No risk, North didnt want pedro, they gained a pretty talented kid imo, worst case traded a mature age late pick for a younger kid with a higher ceiling.

Another inside mid allows JZ and Patch outside where they can be just as damaging.

I am of the school of thought that you can never have too many blokes that can win the ball, provided most of them have another asset.

The outside wings are where we seriously struggle for talent. If he can't outrun and outpossess Gibson and Anthony, he would want to buy a nice property somewhere between Arden St and North Ballarat.

Atley will join Wells, Bastinac, Anthony, Harvey and Gibson in the run and carry roles in 2013.

Mullet will step in to Atleys role in defence.

I expect that we will draft a couple more of these types.

Haven't you been complaining all year that our clearances mids are too light (due to age)?

And now you reckon Gysberts is going to 'release' JZ and Patch?

Gysberts is apparently 190cm and 84 kilos IIRC.

The kid is an injury-prone rake.

Even if we contracted the Weapon to get him bigger, he is at least two years away from being big enough and fit enough to play a genuine inside role (unless he has Pendlebury-like evasiveness).

I am opposed to just about everything North has done in this trade period with the exception of this trade. The generic North board posters have sent a hit team after me.

He cost us a fringe bloke who was going to leave and we got a pick upgrade.

What gets me about this is that you complain we are going too young and trading out/delisting experienced and bigger-bodied players... but you support us trading out an experienced, bigger-bodied player for an underweight kid.

Gysberts is not improving our real* best 22 any time in the next 12 months, and probably not for at least two years, even if he goes uninjured, gets his body right, and proves to be the player we hope he can be.

Ergo, you seem all over the shop.

At least they let you back. Not sure how many bums you have to kiss every time you make a new alias over there but I am persona non regatta** on that board. I guess it is pretty serious business, but still.

*As in our best team to win a match of football then and there. Not 'play the kids' best 22.

**Yes, I am not a boat.

You're completely wrong to the point where I'm not going to even entertain discussing this any further.
