Showing players singing club songs after a win, and for that matter the club songs - just outdated.
The term 'Superstar' is bandied about with regularity, surely there is only a handful of genuine Superstars but hate the saying with a passion. A great of the game would be better but then it...
They are - it's that simple - it's in the code of WADA & heard it numerous times when watching athletics and when other drug scandals have been exposed so the players don't have a defense. Been shafted by the club - definite - innocent? no, they got a gob so open it if not sure - rocket science...
Great post mate.:thumbsu:
I am getting really bored of this story now. Players were complicit - they acted deviously or naively when answering questions and could they honestly think that they would get away with it. Sick of bullshit some are saying a miscarriage of justice when most other...
Top 10 has 2 listings for the 70 final - the game at no.7 and Jezza's mark at no.3.
I've heard people and pundits complain about the modern game and I recently watched some old footage, the game was a lot more open in days gone by from my viewing. It would benefit the game IMO to limit the...
I'm still learning about this game and did a general search for history and came across an article (part 2) of a list of 50 defining moments. It's a list so is debatable but it provides me with some snippets of history. Any thoughts on the list would be appreciated, gents and ladies.
Part 1 (i)...
That is difficult for me to comprehend and the reason is that I follow Cronulla Sharks in the NRL who have also been complicit in this saga due to links with Denk. I would be lying if the thought that it might blow over didn't cross my mind but common sense overruled fanciful thinking.
I can...
Seeing from afar in pommie land I agree with this statement. While it's not directly involved with this saga the 3 strikes rule and self reporting issue on illicit drugs does come across as a cop out. Never understood AFL's stance, shades of MLB's steroid era in some regards until they cleaned...
A book I recently have purchased (not read as yet as many books to read) may be helpful The History of Gaelic Football by Eoghan Corry. It may shed some light on matters, who knows.
Although maybe not a direct link to this thread but maybe of interest is this link to journals on GAA football...
Yeah we are a success after being mediocre for the first few decades. Just have a thing against the big media darlings of sport. Good family to be in the Hawks.
Cannot really go banging on about the Ped's issue with the Bombers when the NRL team I follow (Cronulla Sharks) have been hammered...
Don't really hate the French, the Welsh then Yeah, but I get you're point. I have tried to dislike Essendon but just not that bothered, maybe if they started to give a good battle then maybe different. Just despise The Cats followed by Collingwood as they are the Big club.
As long as Hawks...
For Me it's the Cats. Only been watching/following avidly for about 3 seasons & although we have been in the last 3 GF's, the constant fawning by some of the media to the 'dynasty' the Cats & the curse got on my nerves.
As much as I want to follow the preferred logic of hating the Bombers they...
No all songs suck, not knee jerk reaction, just my opinion as the thread states unpopular opinions about AFL
No, I want them to go full stop, if they had to stay then make them a bit more funky at least.
No Mate, cannot say I have but that kind of makes my point, the songs are garbage & banning them is the only way forward imo. I've never liked songs done by sports teams, just tend to be tacky.
No problem with scrapping them at all, it makes me cringe hearing them & I cannot watch the team singing them after a win, just terrible. Sometimes tradition is just another way of not moving with the times. Just my opinion.
Dislike Hutchy & Caro who just never let things go & been listening to podcasts of Brayshaw on Triple M & well as watching him for some time on the footy shows. He's an annoying tit who giggles a lot. If I had a £1 for every time he called someone a superstar I would have thousands in the bank...
Watching him of both SFS & FC, he always brings up what was said in the past, he's like a dog with a bone that will not let go.
"Yeah Garry, you said this in 1997 but you've been proved wrong, do you admit it or retract it".
Should get rid of him!
Interesting thread. It was not an uncommon phenomenon in sports in the early part of the 20th century to be tainted by a fix. Some boxing bouts were certainly not on the level & baseball had its share of suspicious games notably the 1919 Blacksox scandal...
A profile of Farmer, it states that he revolutionised ruck work and handball, being quite new to the sport would like to know if this is really the case

Posted this in Crows section but took in down coz people stating not Crows & was an apparent troll thread.

I Know but its on their webpage so thought I would post
