Perhaps souls such as yourself should acquaint yourself with statistics and critical thinking? Beam's lack of defensive as was one reason why our midfield was outgunned this year. Simple as that.
For me the loss of Beams isn't as damaging as it could have been a few years ago. While we will undoubtedly miss his offensive prowess, especially around goals, his defensive pressure was woefully inadequate and costly for us for large parts of the year. While he did find plenty of the ball, his...
Interesting article. Is it possible that Pendlebury was referring to Beams when he commented that some players who don't respond to feedback shouldn't be playing AFL? I know that many have identified Beams as simply being too offensive as midfielder which has hurt us at various times this year.
He doesn't fit into the culture of our club. He has a history of making poor on field choices, especially where discipline is concerned. He won't be considered.
Pick 4 and Paine for Beams.
But in all seriousness, the sense of entitlement in football is astounding. I'm not saying that the relationship between Beams and Buckley inspired Beams to nominate for a trade, but how hard is it to work professionally with people you dislike? I'd say the...
This actually isn't that bad an idea. The players could use him as a witches hat at training sometimes, and i'm sure he could also cut oranges for halftime.
With Clark's return to AFL supposedly imminent, Melbourne would have to trade him to a club to remove their contractual obligation. Would a swap for Harry for a monster forward be worth the risks? Most of us would agree that H has been mediocre this year and has lost considerable pace and his...
I don't understand how people can keep suggesting players who have a poor culture could be a good acquisition. We effectively sacked a few players last year who were club favourites but had cultural issues on and off the field, what makes you think that Robinson would even be considered?
I have never seen him use his pace to any advantage. Plenty of times I have seen him attempt to break lines only to end up tackled and holding the ball. The greatest myth in our side is that Mooney is lightening quick.
Unsure how he would fit into Buckley's culture, and I have to say I agree with it. We removed several players with a history of poor cultural decisions on and off the field so I don't see why we should undo all of that for a genuinely 50/50 call.
Not sure how a player with a poor disciplinary record fits into a side that is trying to set a professional and well disciplined culture. It would also be highly hypocritical given our trades and delistings from last year were partly made in an attempt to challenge a culture of poor disciplin...
Emotionally I believe that Harry is a liability at times and his season has woefully underachieved. He has looked slow, made poor decisions, and played unaccountable football at times. However intellectually I wouldn't trade him or delist him based on this season so far. Our defense was woefully...
Despite the second half, our first half was impressive and reminiscent of our pressure identity that has been absent from our year at various times. As expected, Hawthorn moved the ball faster, trusted and were more assured with their game plan, and executed better foot skills. I think we saw...
This is a tired and outdated argument. Sinclair kicked a crucial goal on Saturday, and his rebound was a welcomed feature of our defence. Ramsay butchered the ball at times despite playing a reasonably good game his disposal efficiency was 50%. Sinclair's last game was 65% kicking efficiency...
I liked his tenacity, he displayed that ruggedness that you want your small defenders to possess. However I can only see him getting a regular game if Williams is persisted with in the centre as we are blessed with small defenders at Collingwood in Sinclair, Williams, Toovey, Langdon etc
Frost would be better served by taking a little bit more time with his kicking. He can look unbalanced and rushed with his disposal from a standing start. In saying so, who are our go to kickers in the backline?
The Sinclair critics haven't really adjusted their expectations of him since his shift to the backline. His kicking efficiency last year was generally very high and his decision making dramatically improved. I would trust Sinclair's kicking over William's 'spray and pray' kicking method.
Edit...
While I understand that Buckley's coaching will naturally become scrutinised with each loss, I think some people need to also recognise the brand of football that many of our players are using on game day and how it contributes to losses. Over the last month something began to strike me as odd...
Marley Williams out for Ben Sinclair
Harry O out for Tom Langdon
Jesse White out for Brodie Grundy
Jarryd Blair out for Patrick Karnesis
Sam Dwyer for Dane Swan
Armstrong looked competent across half back, and delivered the ball pretty well.
Frost competed.
Witts performed admirably alongside Beams, Sidebottom and Pendles.
I also think that Goldsack performed reasonably well. He was tasked with a difficult assignment and didn't do too badly.
Fasolo...
I'm sick of this Paine bullshit...
Like everybody else he was given the opportunity to meet a required level. He didn't. Despite reasonable VFL performances he obviously failed to meet the levels expected of him. His VFL reports suggest that he was making no improvements on areas which we were...
