I don't think we'd pull the pin on the trade without knowing who Geelong was looking at for pick 10. That means we only need to dodge 11, 12 and 13 to get our man, whoever that may be.
We gave Geelong our pick 10 and pick 47.
We get pick 14 and pick 35.
We obviously believed we will get our first pick target with 14 and took the opportunity to upgrade our next pick by 12 spots. Bold move, fingers crossed it pays off.
So our 31 becomes 43, dropping 12 positions, plus we move up 3 and 9 spots in our later picks, plus we grab Lowden and Cheney. Not a showstopper, but smart play from the Club.
Trades are a two way street and some clubs like to play out their business in the media, that's the biggest obstacle. But, if we were dealing with a club that also liked to operate "Black Ops" style, then anything is possible
