Multiple foot injuries early in his career. I'm know I'm permanently Egan scarred but this is worrying. Also not ideal as the team could be his now if he could get his body right.
I read that coming into last weekend but haven't heard anything since and he played out the game well in the VFL. He was 3-4 held marks from having a monster game. He's really going to be very good. The ruck we've needed since Ottens. If the body can hold up.
I would have no ill will to any mature age player going for opportunity or money. You don't get many chances at a big contract in the AFL when you get into it late. They all deserve to chase that dream and maybe financial reward for years of effort.
It's a great question and I'm struggling to think of a like for like right now. I've only watched him a couple of games.
A less assertive and prolific Nic Martin with better foot skills? I don't know. I need to think on it. Hopefully someone nails the player comparison in the mean time.
Mannagh hasn't done much today, that's true but the way this game is being played by Geelong is odd so it's hard to read from that half. I guess I'm eyeing a future without Stengle and Mannagh has a game I think can do that job. If I had to fit him now I'm eyeing Henry who still looks stuck in...
We are tall so we bomb it to contests. However the kicks aren't too anyone's advantage. Too easy to spoil. It reminds me of a game I watched a lifetime ago where we named a team of giants (Mensch, Graham etc) and didn't mark much of anything.
Refusing to look inside and switch play. George...
You are right. I would rather a player that puts more pressure on at F3. Henry with Hawkins is treacle slow. Though Hawkins being out for a while maybe changes that balance.
"You’re a professional athlete. You’re not an influencer on social media. Any other sport I can look that up. I can tell you Travis Kelce was 113kg. His quarterback Patrick Mahomes weighs 102kg."
I'm actually impressed that Kelce and Mahomes weigh that much. The NFL players are monsters.
Oh...
I don't know if it's selective reading but multiple times I've read stories of players training extra in the offseason and Dempsey has been in that group.
Like I said, if he didn't get pushed off the ball so easily in the AFL I'd be salivating. He's got something. I can feel it. Glad I'm not...
I'm not fussed. It adds next to no value when observing players. George Stevens and Tom Hawkins are the only two times I've noticed weight measurements. Stewie Dew and Will Gould I could eye ball some bulk.
Don't know what motivated the decision though.
Height and speed are useful. How else...
I'd imagine he's next in line if Henry, Close or Stengle miss? Maybe behind Mannagh.
I can't tell how good he can be. Gets moved of the ball too easily I thought but can get the ball plenty in the VFL and seems to be always putting in extra to improve.
He's 187cm so I wouldn't have said small...
I have similar thoughts on Phillips. I don't like the midfield mix to be limited to mid only players. I prefer when you have the run of Thomas through the guts. I think one of Phillips or Powell or both might have to miss.
Any room for Lazarro? VFL numbers show he can get plenty of it, or was...
Sorry to intrude but please keep up the training reports. There are plenty of us that can't get enough of them in the off season for our club and others.
They are greatly appreciated by many that don't comment. You can inject Brayden George updates direct into my veins. Can't wait to see him...
I know, I was the same, but because it's only him saying what he's heard and not assessing himself I'm hoping the person he spoke to is a more reliable judge.
So sorry to intrude, but I'm a bit of a Banks fan after watching some of his VFL work and keep my eye on this thread for progress.
Thought it was worth the share for anyone that didn't see it: Which player will jump out of the ground at your club in 2023?
To save you the click:
Sam Banks...
I just see so many clubs needing big men. There is barely a team that doesn't need a key position forward or back in they best 22.
I like being able to help players get where they want by next year I think Sav is important depth.
Either way I wish him well wherever he ends up.
And the balance in the first team is really important. We know Hawkins can't chase. Add another forward who doesn't work hard enough both ways and it can throw things out because opposition defenders are so good at sling shotting back out.
It's why despite Higgins and Dahl's form at times being...
