Really impressed by Stanley's 2nd half. Was jumping all over the opposition and showed yet again what he is capable of. He was the difference in the end IMHO. Yet he was weirdly not listed in our best. I'm so hoping he lives up to his potential. Great work by the debutantes too. I was proud of...
I never said it was. It is more about being seen to do the right thing and ticking a box with most organizations with outcomes not generally the focus.

If the AFL was truly committed to equality they would scrap both the mens and womens leagues and make it a mixed competition..... {insert facetious wink here}

Agree. I get that some players are extremely good in more than one position. I get a little annoyed when others are played 'out of position' where it destroys their confidence eg harryT

Are we likely to have anyone playing out of position again this year? I'm a little over players being labelled 'swingmen' and therefore moved to positions they don't play as well in desperation.

Great work. Depression is a common theme in my family. I regularly discuss the issue with my high achieving only child (daughter). Discussions focus on the amount of help available and how situations that seem hopeless can quickly change. Thankfully she is very mature and gets it.

When Ablett avoids contact he's hailed as untackleable when C. Guthrie avoids contact he's seen as soft. I quite like the fact he tries to dance around the opposition. Sure he gets caught 1 in 4 but the upside when he doesn't is huge and I'm sure the club wants him to continue playing this way...
I'm with Gavin. I dont think anyone should be a walkup start based on perceived potential. More than happy to see him in the ones but think he should earn it. In fact I am hoping that the M.C. see it the same way and we have a more ruthless attitude to selection.

I agree that getting games into the youngsters is critical. The club did well last year at getting games into the kids at the expense of games into the lesser middle tier players such as Murdoch GHS etc or by holding players back after injury.
What the club hasnt really done in years is play...
The AFL website is now describing him an experienced midfielder. What drugs are they on?
I do wish him well though. I reckon he was a better forward than anywhere else on the park

The afl website described Murdoch as a running machine........ I prefer this one because I think it would be a better decision maker and get caught less with the ball.......

Ssd for Menz. Such a talent. I'm sure someone will pick him up and he'll do well.
Murdoch was a favorite of mine in the early days as a forward. Especially after he kicked those goals against the Hawks. Unfortunately he then became my whipping boy. Has there ever been an alleged 'speedster'...
I've always liked LD. Nothing better than a rookie making good (JH).
I just watched his highlight reel and every highlight was an act of desperation be it a smother or tackle with little regard for his personal welfare. Reminded me of Max Rooke and that can't be a bad thing.

Brave move by WCE to take him though. Who would have thought he would get his body right. He deserves some luck and he got it unfortunately with NN going down.

Murdoch is the slowest 'speedster" we have ever had and don't start me on the allegedly Riccardi like 'Raking' left foot .......

Really hoping they do an M. Blake and only given Murdoch 7 more games so that we don't get Murdoch junior under the father/son rule

Cameron Thurley (pick 22 2003) after his 4 goal effort in his second game. Went on to play another 5 awesome games for the cats.
Special mention Nathan Djerrkura.

Great to see him doing well.
A nice read here:
By George, it looks like Horlin-Smith has got it - http://m.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-24/by-george-it-looks-like-horlinsmith-has-got-it

That hawthorn game years ago made me think he was was the misiah. Such a tease. Like a cheap stripper. Anyway great to see him effective. Loved the game from ghs.
So torn. I love what menagola brings to the table... can we play both? Almost has me wishing for an injury.... Ok dumb comment...
A bit harsh I reckon. Lonners seems to be playing his role as well as ever. I'd almost have him as the first bloke picked in the side. Before you laugh we have replacements for everyone else but only one of the Lonergan type of defender.
