Here is my post. Fair to say people are misrepresenting my comments
“Trying to fit Cripps Walsh Cerra Hewett Smith Elijah Lord Docherty and get maximum benefits is going to be interesting. I also hope we give Williams Fogarty Durdin Motlop and even Kemp & Charlie some mid minutes at times to...
I listed them as options and we are talking about minute or two a game and maybe not every game. I’m looking over an entire season
The reason for naming them is they play other roles in the side as their primary role. I also listed Williams Docherty Elijah Lord etc as options
If we have a...
Lions also had Cameron, Bailey, Zorko, Rayner, Tunstill and if not for injuries may have had more playing mid minutes
The Swans had heaps of players rotating through the middle throughout the year. Heeney Parker C.Warner Chad Warner Mills Florent Rowbottom Gulden Jordan Adams McInerney and...
So not the entire game? What did they use during the whole year?
In big games and key moments you use your guns. No brainer but it’s a long year and it would be improbable that they are all fit all year
To win a flag you need depth and options
Cripps last year had his best year ever and we...
Exactly. Also, giving players like Cripps a breather throughout the season and sometimes using him as a forward
Our main group won’t change but you need options and depth
Thanks for highlighting and proving my point 👍
No team has same people doing ALL the CBAs. Our core will be Cripps Walsh Cerra Hewett. They will also not play every week
What we are talking about is who does extra minutes and fills in when needed to our pressure, impact etc doesn’t fall away...
I have no idea how it will pan out. Still 8-9 weeks before first game.
I’m just hoping for competition for spots (everyone for) and a number of players that can fill a role
I’m also hoping that Voss will play a Lord or Smith in the middle (if all up and running) instead of taking the easy...
I see it differently. A fit Motlop can have impact minutes in the middle if fit
Lord is a beauty. IMO he plays
What I like now is we have options. We need them all to step up and push for a spot. That happens we are looking good
Trying to fit Cripps Walsh Cerra Hewett Smith Elijah Lord Docherty and get maximum benefits is going to be interesting. I also hope we give Williams Fogarty Durdin Motlop and even Kemp & Charlie some mid minutes at times to mix it up
I expect Ben Campo & Wilson to be pushing for a game at some...
I think he has that laconic style that will make it easy to criticise
I think he can be a real “impact” mid playing 6-8 minutes an qtr and high HF or Wing.
I hope he is part of our midfield mix this year that can just keep going all game and doesn’t drop away when Cripps Walsh etc have a break
Two questions on Elijah for me. Talent is incredible
1. Needs to improve workrate for entire game. Can get a bit lazy and not push through. Hoping improved fitness makes a difference
2. His role. If he plays HF with some mid minutes it’s hard to dominate. Will he get more minutes up the...
Apparently Jack ready for full contact work. Charlie still to be eased into it but seems fine. Acres may take a few weeks but no issues. Can't find anything definitive on Saad but hints are he isn't 100%. Cincotta injury quite serious and will miss pre season
Club very impressed with younger...
I honestly have no idea. First I have really seen of him. Just looks a nice mover and clean with ball
All the players trialling look good. Durdin is very fit (at the moment) Phillips to me has always looked an AFL KPD, DGB is okay without standing out and Will White has something about him...
It is where he has been training. All being well Wilson will likely play up the ground as he develops but has been bloody impressive in the pre season games and match sims as a running defender.
He is very fit and quick, has poise and has given us more run than anyone else from the back half...
I wouldn't be writing off anyone. I expect changes to the usual structure this year.
Cincotta start is delayed and Saad is struggling with hamstring issues. Newman will be 32 but has just come off his best year.
Form and fitness will tell. Ollie, Wilson, Boyd and maybe L.Campo could well be...
A lot of people around club have been commenting on changes to training. Major focus on speed and power. Lot of positivity from players
I'm not an expert on this but I wonder if Russell just got us very fit but explosiveness of modern game caused a lot of issues/injuries when we weren't...
100% agree with this. I watched Wilson last season and he looked every bit the AFL player. Has the poise, skills and smarts along with some leg speed. Real chance to play this season
Duffy at training looks solid. Some good afl traits and is a real athlete. Not noticable in match sim stuff but early for him
Monahan to me looks way off it. I know it was his first year but he wasn't even close to being VFL standard. Couldn't find the ball and was fumbly when he did.
An...
It's a great discussion. Injuries really killed us last year but I felt we were struggling before the injuries took over. IMO we never really got going or played anywhere near our potential during the entire season but we were still second with a few rounds to go.
Our talent is undeniable. Our...
Why not. Subjective and mine are based on not many injuries in 2025
1. How many home and away games will Carlton win in 2025? 17
2. If we make finals, how far will we go? Win it all
3. Name our top 3 Brownlow votegetters in order. Cripps Walsh Cerra
4. How many Carlton debuts will we have...
Yep and people saying he needs to play VFL first makes no sense
Will Jagga play VFL and need to prove himself first? I doubt it. Did Ollie?
Pre season, match sims and structure will mean more. I don’t know if Wilson will play early but names like Wilson Ben Campo Lucas Campo Lord Binns Moir...
Message from someone involved around club to our group chat.
I’ve summarised comments and some back and forth
Good start to pre season
Everyone came back in great shape
Big focus on power and explosiveness. Lot of gym work etc not seen by public
Campo twins very impressive
No injuries and...
