Preview 2024 National Draft Preview Thread Part Deux

FOS may fit a better need for us but if Lalor is available I bloody hope we take him. Gives me Dusty vibes.

Preview 2024 National Draft Preview Thread

This is particularly true in a team like North who are still struggling for role clarity and structure. At Geelong or Sydney, maybe a different proposition.

Preview 2024 National Draft Preview Thread

Agree with your analysis here for sure on Tauru being overrated when compared to other talls around the mark (I like Gerreyn as much as any other tall). If we keep Pick 2, is there any scenario where we don't go with Lalor, Draper or Smith (my preference is Lalor)?

Player Watch #37: Cooper Harvey - signs 1yr extension - Roo til end 2025

Know someone who played juniors with him and reckons he was a bit of a dickhead. Not that being a dickhead is bad, DeGoey case in point. I guess he just needs to find the talent to back it up a bit more than he has to date.

List Mgmt. Brady Rawlings | Head of Football Talent (Recruitment, LM & TPP)

I wonder if he plays a similar quarterback role to what Mitchell did at the Hawks in his later years.

Reckon Konstanty puts some pressure on Payne as well to lift. Will be good to see how that pans out in terms of small forward stocks.

If we're any good, Fisher will play 70% VFL next year.

Coop might have the worst attitude of the 3 but probably has the highest ceiling.

Training 2025 Pre-Season /// THEY’RE BACK! /// QLD “relationship building & hard work” camp is early December

Patty Cripps calves smaller than this and hasn't stopped him winning two brownlows.

I know people have gone cold on him, but I would be very happy with Smillie at 2, he or Lalor would be excellent gets if we can't split our pick. Would much prefer we achieve this by splitting our pick 2 but looking unlikely that happens.

Player Watch #?: Luke Parker - Welcome to North Melbourne - Konstanty and Parker traded for Pick 44

Big stitch up if so. Kills our chances of Gerryn or Hannaford.

Player Watch #?: Luke Parker - Welcome to North Melbourne - Konstanty and Parker traded for Pick 44

How hard do you see the Swans pushing North on a second round pick or does a third rounder get the job done?

    Player Watch #12: Jy Simpkin - 21/22 SBM - 23/24 CoCapt

There's probably a hardness with Sheezel that we'd need to see before he becomes captain. He'll play his role and motivate the crew, but a captain needs to be able to tell someone to pull their head in whenever required. Does he have that in him yet?

List Mgmt. 2024 Trade & List Management Thread - Part II

Strong points but I disagree. Just watch the mic'd up clips for Parker and Simpkin and you'll see the stark contrast. Parker is directing traffic, constantly vocal and respected. A season of Parker in the guts will hopefully help LDU/Simpkin find their voice and actually direct the crew...

List Mgmt. 2024 Trade & List Management Thread - Part II

Yeah based on the Thursfield response, it doesn't look like we're planning on picking up Hannaford or Berry this draft which is extremely disappointing. Don't think RHJ or Payne are the answers for us. Curtis is great but isn't zippy enough to play that true small forward role. If North swing a...

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

Viney mentioned no change to our footy department this off-season in the members QA. I think stability is good but am disappointed we don't get a Simmo or Dew through the door.

****ing spot on. Trading out F1 for Houston is desperate and reckless.

Very desperate. I hope this isn't late stage at Hawks Clarko with the OMeara, Wingard and Mitchell trades!

Smacks of desperation if we part with our F1 for Houston.

Would be a really bad call to trade our F1..

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

If the posts in this thread a week ago are anything to go by, Clarko isn't coaching us to be a premiership side - he doesn't see himself as the guy to take us there. He sees himself as more of a manager setting us up for success. Which kind of explains how benign, less intense aura (also the...

Massively against us trading out of the first round of next year's draft.

List Mgmt. 2024 Trade & List Management Thread - Part II

A top 3 pick in a draft with Duursma and Sharpe seems too steep for Houston, a HBF. A pick 8-12 seems reasonable but probably not too much more than that. If Balta is available end of next year would rather go after him actively.
  24. R

List Mgmt. 2024 Trade & List Management Thread - Part II

Yep, reckon this is spot on. I also wouldn't want to hand over pick 2 for him and would be more than happy to wait for Balta next year if that's any chance of being a goer.

Player Watch #29: Will Phillips [Part II] - Extends to End of 2025

He's snagged a couple of really nice goals from congestion at both AFL and VFL level. If we don't secure a solid small forward through trade or via the draft, I would be keen to see him spend some time as a small forward this year applying pressure, releasing Curtis/Zurhaar/Sheezel, and maybe...

Preview 2024 National Draft Preview Thread

Seems like the only way we get him is by splitting pick 2 and hoping no one else picks him up in the top 7-8. I'm a massive fan of Lalor, getting him and Hannaford in the first round and maybe a Gerryn with our round 2 pick would be excellent.

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

As much as I want Patch to work out, I haven't seen anything overly impressive from him. Barlow looks like he might have a bit about him though. Would really like a Clarko to Simmo to Barlow situation.

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

****ing hell. Off into the sunset he reckons. Probably worth the club putting a call in to Simmo to get ahead of any half-hearted ****ery. We need him to drive standards, not suggest what they'd look like in a competitive team and not truly care if it's ever realized...

Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

Hmm pretty disappointing if that is his assessment of the list, and if he's still talking about the Essendon offer. Seems a little half in, half out here which I don't think is going to help us at all. In terms of the extended period, is it your sense that he pulls up stumps at the completion of...

Surely North go after Jack Martin? A short contract would be low risk for smaller-medium forward and ceiling well above Owies.
