Do you think other clubs' supporters would all be obsessed with the possibility of nabbing Armstrong or Faull off us, like a lot of us have been obsessed with Cadman?
As long as they don't follow the form of Schache or Patton or that guy I wanted instead of Balta who got drafted early then never...
From my observations, Sonsie would hang around the outside of any ball-up - presumably because he was instructed to do so.
I want him to make it. I sort of like the idea of him playing a D Rioli type role off the bank flank, but also don't want to keep shuffling him around different positions -...
Oh, where to start?
Key Forward - Lynch to stand up injury free and anyone else of the new recruits to become his partner.
Small forward? Probably hopeful of MRJ having a breakout season.
Samson Ryan to start holding his ground and clunking some marks to become a valuable ruck/forward.
Hugo and...
List and salary cap management means that for every marquee player earning close to a million dollars: Lynch, Tarranto, Prestia.... you also need players content enough to run around in the VFL on minimum dollars but can perform a basic role at AFL level if injury/suspension requires it...
Going to be an interesting year.
Ignoring wings and looking at centre square midfielders:
Established senior midfielders: Tarranto, Prestia, Hopper
Reasonably experienced: Ross
Possible pinch-hitting rotations from other positions: MRJ, Campbell, Green, Short....?
Hopeful new recruits: Lalor...
Always rated Brindley and sorry to see him go.
Archie May showed a few moments but was not consistent enough for me.
With Fawcett & Colina hopefully on the park in 2025 and the addition of Armstrong, Faull & Sims to mostly develop in the VFL, plus no way of fitting all of Balta, Miller, Young...
I reckon you only want 2 out of Tarranto, Prestia, Hopper in the centre. One could rotate from the bench.
Personally, I'd like to start the year with Sonsie as the 3rd centre midfielder and give him a really decent run (like Dow had last year) to see what he offers. Have him rotating with MRJ or...
Obviously we rated Faull & Armstrong ahead of Shanahan, etc
Rated Simms ahead of J Whitlock, Kerryn, Dodson, etc
Happy enough that we have got exactly who we wanted with these picks, rather than trading down and taking whoever was leftover.
No sense banging on about it, but I think we're all in agreement that our speculative picks in Fawcett & Gray should have been a couple of years earlier (whoever those equivalent available players were) when we could all see the end approaching for JR and Lynch not too far behind him.
We would...
Definitely going to be an interesting draft.
Don't see how we can stuff it up, no matter what we do.
(Then remembers having never heard of Conca before we drafted him...or Samson Ryan....or....)
I'm going Jagga Smith as the next Neale/Butters.
I don't see there ever being another Dusty.
Lalor's ceiling is Cam Raynor or DeGoey. I'd rather Jagga and/or FOS.
Personally, I'd go FOS first, then Jagga with pick 2 if we get it, then whichever of Lalor/Draper/Langford/Smillie with pick 6.
This probably means we lose 10&11 and a chance at a couple out of Travalgia/Lindsay/Allan/Berry.
Can still look at Cooper Hynes, Jesse Datolli around 18 or so, along...
I'm expecting there to be plenty of similar opportunities for us. Just a case of picking the best deal at each opportunity.
Slide a pick and gain a future first - then possibly slide again for future second.
End up picking up Sam Davidson or other speculative flanker types with later picks -...
My personal view, from Tigers perspective, is that there is not a lot of difference between getting a second player out of FOS/Lalor/Smith at pick 2 than getting Smillie/Langford at pick 6. So I would not be looking at involving pick 6 in a trade.
However, who knows what the recruitment team are...
Or Richmond don't trade, get FOS at 1, Lalor/Langford/Smillie at 6 and best available at 10.
It all depends on how attractive the one specific pairing of Lalor / Fos is compared to the pairing of pick 1 & possible pick 6.
Main thing now is that we can take all 8 of our top 24 draft picks with us to the draft.
See what happens on the night - definitely an option to trade 1 or 2 into next year, or keep sliding our last pick picking up future seconds like we did last year.
Although it's exciting to have so many top...
Very happy with Tigers trade period.
With Dusty now joining Cotchin, Riewoldt, Edwards, Houli, etc in retirement, it just feels like the end of an era and time to embrace a new generation by going all in on the draft.
It's a shame to lose Baker, Bolton, Graham & Rioli - but we can't sink any...
He is servicable as a tap ruckman.
And when forward he seems to get himself into the right position and gets first hands in a marking contest - but falls over and spills the ball with the tiniest player putting body contact on him.
I'm hoping his marking is something he can improve on with a bit...
Now that the trades are completed, I've realised how far behind in my work I've become.
Hopefully I can spend a week or two catching up before I lose productivity again as I get fully obsessed with the draft possibilities.
I agree, but would go further and stick to 10 & 11 for pick 2 and not give up pick 6.
North either take that, or they find some other deal.
Only Saints or Melbourne could offer a better deal, but they won't.
Other option for North is 15, 16 & future from GWS.
I'm in the don't trade pick 6 for pick 2 camp.
Pick 6 would be Langford or Reid at worst.
It's not worth sacrificing an extra top 20 pick - which could be traded for a top 5 future first - for a possible Langford to Lalor upgrade.
