The issue we have now is he is a ruckman and we have OHB and sounds like Colina (if hes ever fit) to squeeze in too.

Hes got 3 years. Clearly the club think he has something to offer.

I see is a guy who has shown talent, not physically though, btu who simply hasn't translated that into anything consistent at the AFL level. That the club has given him 3 years means that they think he can bring it all together, IMHO.

If he can bring his ability to the table, and get stronger, then we have a reasonable ruck.

I struggle to see why we gave him 3 years. But I also see potential. I won't pot him. But I really hope the club hasn't stuffed this one up.

I have no problem with taking another ruck in the draft. If they have real talent. But only if we think we can get a top line ruck - so in 3 to 5 years.

Vickery looks like Max Gawn or Todd Goldstein compared to Sampson.

People need more patience with this guy. He just needs bulk. It's the only thing that's stopping him from being pushed out of contests. It effects his marking and ruck work. Once he has the size to wrestle and hold his ground, he will be one of our most important players in the side. He has already proven that he has the marking capability, is a good set shot and is talented tap ruckman.

We just need to get him on the protein shakes and make him smash the gym (especially to build up his core strength) and he will an incredible asset to the side. It's going to be a massive preseason for the lad.

Hope you are right and he does build that core. I see all of his talent. But I also see that he cannot play that physical role required to be an AFL ruck. If he can get stronger again (big steps in 2024) I hope he can step up to another level in 2025. Lots of 'hope' in that.

adding size is not what it used to be, you can't put too much mass on a body that is not naturally big.

But it's so much much easier to just trash talk him FT.

That way if he fails to come on you can say that you were right all along and how insightful you were, but if he comes good you get to enjoy his success in the yellow and black like everyone else.

It's a no-lose situation if you talk smack about one of your own.

I do get the frustration though. I don't want him to be another wasted talent story.

Get the new fitness guru to baulk him up as a 200 cm player. His still like a pencil what's the previous fitness and conditioning been doing.

He is servicable as a tap ruckman.
And when forward he seems to get himself into the right position and gets first hands in a marking contest - but falls over and spills the ball with the tiniest player putting body contact on him.
I'm hoping his marking is something he can improve on with a bit of strength conditioning.
