Here I have compiled a couple of bar chart races for countries with the best Elo rating dating back to 1872. I will complete the Cold War era next.
1900-1945:
1800s:
Due to the complexity of these times ratings are subject to change
Elo ratings are wealth and population adjusted to better...
Here are 2 bar chart races I made for 2 different eras. These use wealth and population adjusted rankings for higher accuracy in representing the skill of a nation. I will make another one for 1992-2019 at the end of this year.
note: there are adjustments made to matches with Communist...
What happens on field is the result of various socioeconomic infrastructures that culminate into a series 90 minute games. Therefore, it is very relevant to what happens on the field.
Of course not, and that's not what I'm saying which makes me think you're not following me.
Germany, Italy...
I would encourage you to investigate point number 3 a bit further. It is very hard to compare a country with 70 million people and $36.9k gdp per capita to a country with 4.1 million people and $12k gdp per capita. It is not something that we can just gauge in our mind, but to even begin finding...
We must consider these 3 points for proper evaluation.
1. first 2 French goals were questionable at best
2. Croatia outplayed France for most of the game and got unlucky (which often happens in low scoring sports)
3. In wealth and population adjusted rankings if Croatia would have won or lost...
In the past the offside rule has been liberalized, and will continue to be liberalized as people slowly, very slowly, understand that it needs to be. Sports regulations evolve just about as fast as human society, much too slowly in regards to the information/technology available, football is an...
But you obviously didn't understand, and you don't understand my intentions as there's nothing I "crave" in regards to this post.
Again, if people like randomness they can roll dice or flip coins.
Truth isn't about how many people believe it, that is the fallacy argumentum ad populum. But it...
You imply a logical fallacy. To correct you 2 points must be addressed. 1. if you were able to theoretically takeout all the randomness of a game of football the predictability would be dependent on a combination of skill and performance. Therefore you wouldn't be able to predict it with total...
That's the exact type of situation these rule changes are meant to fix. They create more scoring opportunities and offer a less random final score in a higher percentage of situations.
I completely disagree. If you want randomness and unpredictability simply roll dice or flip coins. The rules...
I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. I'm not necessarily wanting a high scoring game, but rather a scoreline that represents the performance on the field a higher percentage of the time.
That's what I'm saying, it is broken... it is severely mathematically broken as I explained above. Here is more info:
*Mathematical Problem With Scoring In Soccer Football
*Law Of Large Numbers And Sports Results
There is a technical problem with the game of football, and it is mathematical. It is the team sport with the highest rate of upsets, this in itself is not the problem, but the problem is that they are much too often undeserved upsets. The final score should generally represent the performance...

This is a more accurate method of judging skill of countries in any particular sport. Peru was leading for most of this year, Brazil narrowly leads them right now.
1. Brazil
2. Peru
3. Uruguay
4. Portugal
5. Croatia
6...
I'm bumping this post in hopes of someone having information regarding Convicts vs Canada and United States from 2007 to 2011. To my limited knowledge, the Convicts are no longer active.
Does anyone know anything about the team that played in the Arafura games known as the Central Desert Eagles... are they a small club, a team made of only regional players, or a team made of various players from a small league, also does anyone know where they are from? I assumed they were from...
These are wealth and population adjusted Elo ratings (alternative flags used in some cases, flags are usually historically accurate).

I just got this started, so I don't have many regions yet. But if anyone wants a region added let me know and I'll try to do it first.
These are broken down into conferences based on wealth and population amount combined (as these are major factories in contributing to sports potential). Each...
USA, maybe once or twice... There are 18 European teams ahead of them in the ranks right now, so you could see it being possible on a good day: http://www.eloratings.net/ Australia may have a tougher time, I'm not sure what their highest ranking has ever been.
UEFA has 14 spots for the 2018 World Cup. Here are the major European countries with their economic determinant (a number that estimates countries potential based on gdp per capita and population amount). See this video for more commentary:
Germany: 32.4 million
France: 26.5 million
Italy...
AFC has 4.5 spots for the 2018 World Cup. Here are the major Asian countries with their economic determinant (a number that estimates countries potential based on gdp per capita and population amount). See this video for more commentary:
China: 60 million
Japan: 54.7 million (football not the...
Honduras is, by far, more efficient at soccer than the United States. In my wealth and population adjusted rankings Honduras is ranked #38 and United States is ranked #129: http://internationalsports.nfshost.com/index.php/home/load_sports/5/2017
CONCACAF has 3.5 spots for the 2018 World Cup. Here are the major North American countries with their economic determinant (a number that estimates countries potential based on gdp per capita and population amount). See this video for more commentary:
United States: 149 million (soccer is...
what happened to South Africa? did their skill level go down or did they just have a temporary slump? i think the same question could be asked of Britain.
i think the team that shocked me the most is Sri Lanka, it looks like they have good potential and already outplay other countries from...
i agree that the countries putting the most money and effort into it should have more of a say of how things go to a degree... but it gets tricky. obviously countries like the United States and Britain are going to have access to more wealth and resources than Croatia or Sri Lanka, so it's not...
i'm not either. having said that i was a little surprised by South Africa's poor performance this year. but the point is Croatia certainly deserves to play more teams than just Asian teams. it would have been ideal if at very least Germany and Croatia could then play South Africa and France to...
it is understandable to have divisions in order to avoid huge score differences, but i'm still disappointed that we didn't get to see Croatia play a bit tougher competition (i am of the opinion that the China game was a bit of a fluke). here is a rough draft proposal for men's divisions in the...
