One thing I've come to learn over the years is the AFL is probably the most unprofessional professional sporting league in the world besides maybe the NRL when it comes to branding and uniforms.
I'm not a huge fan of the split V, not that it looks bad at all but just it just feels like a weird step away from the SA state guernsey look. But I'm glad it's at least consistent between the two guernseys now so I can live with it.
I know this is the GC thread but man does that Crows logo stick out like a sore thumb. Gold Coast funnily has the opposite issue where it just doesn't stand out enough with the red on red.
Wow so "fearless" that they decided to just pussy out of designing an actual wordmark and just bought the commercial licence to use Eurostile Bold and slapped it under the logo. One of the lamest things I've seen a professional sports team try to pull since the Chargers 'LA Dodgers' logo.
It shits me that jumper nerds like us are able to pump out concepts in a matter of minutes that piss on anything ever decided in a board room. It was never meant to be like this.
Cool, do you care to explain why you think the logo is bad? It's so easy for one to say "this logo is good" and "this logo is bad" because anyone can just say their opinion aloud. I am not arguing in opinion, beauty is subjective but design is not. Design is creating something with a stated goal...
The Suns logo was the only thing they had going for them as a club. Execution-wise there's a few things I'd change but otherwise the interlocked 'GC' looked classy and it was a great attempt at a modern take on the monogram. But most importantly, it looked like a logo belonging to a professional...
After the reveal of the Tasmania Devils and most recently the new Adelaide rebrand, my faith and expectations for this Suns rebrand couldn't be any lower. I'd love to be optimistic, but the trajectory of the AFL club branding has taken a nose dive this year and it would take a miracle just shy...
Maybe I'm coming at it more from an aesthetic standpoint but yeah I agree it would work well, but I just would think something along the lines of the 2017 clash would work/look just as well if not better and be a nice point of difference. I'm pretty sure the reason it wasn't done in the past was...
Of course not, but you'd think being the only two clubs with the sash design you'd want to at least have a couple points of difference if you could help it
Can only speak as an outsider but yeah I think ~25 years is high time for a refresh for any club. Collingwood's rebrand in 2018 was quite welcome, was still in essence the same style of logo but looks a lot cleaner now. I'm hoping the same thing happens for Essendon, nothing too major just a new...
Cheers mate, had these ones as well. Just embraces the red/black a bit more and the one on the right I've put in a stencil font which aims to tie in with the whole aviation/Bomber theme.
The application is fine in my opinion, the problem is it's just a slight downgrade on an already average logo.
Just look at the logos on the AFL website. Despite differing styles you could say most if not all logos 'fit' well together. The only one that sticks out like a sore thumb is Adelaide...
For me it's an issue of both concept and execution. They were clearly trying to capture the same vibe as the OG Crows logo and while it's a great logo in itself, rebranding should always look to innovate. As for the execution, well it's absolutely horrible. Nothing besides maybe the head and...
It's AI-generated, just like the Tasmania logo was. Logos don't have to look good or even make sense in this day and age because people will just eat it up
Thanks, it really doesn't take much. I usually prefer more creativity when it comes to rebrands, but I can't see how you could improve the current Essendon logo besides upgrading the wordmark and colours.
Probably one of the crudest concepts I've ever put up here just because I don't have access to my normal computer at the moment, that aside, the 'big sash' clash could arguably work if they made the sash even bigger, something like this:
How did Luke Ball get to us in the draft? I was a bit young to even be into drafting a list management back then so it was a shock to me that we just somehow got him. I see we got him with pick 30, why did nobody else take him until then?
There's no guaruntee that Schultz would have signed with us this year, Carlton, St Kilda, North etc. would have all sent their godfather deals so we'd in a 5 horse race. Plus in the context that we were looking to go back-to-back it completely makes sense to bring him in last offseason. With how...
