I think list selectors will have some headaches next year.
I think one of Battle & Sicily will be in defence, while the other is the forward line.
But here's my attempt at a best 22 for 2025:
Hardwick Frost Impey
Scrimshaw Barass Sicily
Weddle Newcombe D'Ambrosio
Moore Chol MacDonald...
Here's what I think it'll cost to get Barrass to the Hawks. Pick 13, plus we slide our future 1st down to Eagles future 2nd. While upgrading pick 30 to pick 23 in this year's draft.
Hawks
In: Barass, Eagles F2nd, Pick 23
Out: Pick 13, F1st, Pick 30
Eagles:
In: Pick 13, Hawks F1st, Pick 30...
I had Dipper spoil the results for me on Friday night lol
For context, the mrs & I booked tickets for the Iron Maiden concert a couple of months prior. And I was begging for the Hawks game to be on any other night apart from Friday, but it is what it is.
Anyway, I had plans to record the game...
I was having this discussion with my nephew after the game yesterday. Watson's pressure and impact he has on a contest & his ability to hunt down a player with the ball is the best I've seen since Puopolo.
He reminds me of Poppy when he was drafted. Only Watson is 18, Poppy was 22 when we...
Which is weird coming from Hodge, surely he should remember the flack Hawks got for drafting him over Chris Judd.
It's very early days yet, we'll see in time if he was worth taking at Pick 5. I see the talent there, let's just hope it can all fall into place for Watson
Meek's massive goal was my personal favourite part of the game. Good to finally get a win. Within a kick of beating the reigning premiers and would have beaten Bombers had we kicked straight. Could have easily been 3-3
I think we're not as bad as outsiders suggest. We've definitely had...
Hawks to trade out Pick 4 to Giants for Pick 7 & Giants F1st
Hawks Pick up O'Sullivan, McCabe & Dear and really stock up on KPPs
Re-rookie Stephens & Wingard
Getting another Pick next year would only give us another asset to trade with in next year's draft to help get an A grade player next...

Does the fact that Curtin has a hammy injury so close to combine mean its more likely North overlook him & Wet Toast are more willing to part with Pick 1 as Curtin is more likely being...
Had some thoughts on how to get what we want to target and who we're linked to.
Trade 1:
Hawks:
In: Pick 39
Out: Brockman
Eagles:
In: Brockman
Out: Pick 39
Trade 2:
Hawks:
In: Pick 25, Pick 44
Out: Pick 29, Kosi
Tigers:
In: Pick 29, Kosi
Out: Pick 25, Pick 44
Trade 3:
Hawks:
In: Pick...
I think McCabe gets targeted with Swans first pick honestly. I'd love for us to try and trade up and get Carltons first round pick to try get a good KP prospect
That's tremendous. If North had half a brain, they'd take Haynes massive contract for a year & by another first round pick. Use Haynes as a stop gap KPD so Corr is not by himself.
And also draft Curtin, use Haynes to ease him into the AFL system so he's not fed to the wolves right away.
But...
If I'm not mistaken, the whole reason why Eagles are into Pick 3(4 or 5) is have a good chance at landing Curtin.
I don't include Walters, because Suns are that loaded with points from picks, it doesn't matter where a club bids on him. The Suns will get him regardless & has been that way for...
Hawks won't part with Pick 3 unless Pick 1 is involved. As it will allow Hawthorn to get either Watson/Curtin/McKercher
Eagles will likely want more than what Hawks are willing to pay for Pick 1. So Pick 3 will effectively be off the table.
Nah Suns are more interested in points then another top 10 Pick.
If we were to look at getting Ben King, I'd involve a club like Sydney in a 3 way trade (especially if they lost Pick 7 in the Barass trade)
Something like:
Hawks:
In: Ben King, Pick 39
Out: Hawks Future 1st, Pick 30
Swans...
I think if it's confirmed Brockman wanted to return to WA and elected Eagles as he's club of choice. Ryan is who we'd be asking for in return in exchange of picks so that both clubs feel it's fair.
I don't agree that a contracted Ryan is worth a 4th round pick. But he doesn't command the same...
Not that I rate Brockman poorly, rather that he's out of contract & we've never stood in the way of players wanting to go home.
If Brockman were contracted, I believe we'd get a bit more for him
I think Wet Toast is his only option at this point. His chances of getting to the Eagles might be strengthened slightly with the likely departure of Barass.
However, we'd get likely next to nothing for him. Unless he is packaged with Brockman.
I'm hoping Hawks attempt to put a package together...
Agreed, it wasn't DGB day. But to not get a touch in over half a game of football. I think if he can used as steak knives to help us get Pick 1, so be it.
Agreed. But it's not just them that have a lot of work in front of them. Chances are not everyone I mentioned will make it. But we need to get as many games as possible into all of them to see who will sink or who will swim.
With draft now complete & not being able to trade up in the pre season or rookie draft tomorrow. We can now collectively look at Hawthorn's off season in terms of In's & Out's.
In's: Amon, Meek, Cooper Stephens, Cameron Mackenzie, Weddle, Hustwaite, O'Sullivan, Bailey MacDonald, Bulldogs F2nd...
