Clearly Plowman will be one of the first picked going by the b&f voting. I'm not confident of him standing up in a big final with how nervous he gets and the costly mistakes he makes.
I can see your infatuation with Plowman going by the name. My best back 6 if everyone is available is:
Simpson Jones Marchbank
Newman Weitering Docherty
Also think SPS is best suited to backline.
I actually watch him very closely and he makes costly mistakes most weeks. He was not our 3rd best players this season and should not have finished within 9 votes of Cripps.
As much as I'm a passionate Blues supporter, a club that has a recent history of winning premierships and one of the greatest coaches of all time is not a miserable club.
We have an exciting future, but that is only based on speculation. Not proof as yet.
It is not a reliance on veterans. Clarkson creates a playing style that is extremely difficult to play against. If they got Coniglio their midfield would be him, Mitchell, Worpel and O'Meara, with Wingard spending time in there. Close to the best in the business and they aren't veterans.
Let's...
Timely wake up call going into pre-season. A few players need big pre-seasons: Setterfield, O'Brien, Fisher and McGovern come to mind. And an off season of goal kicking practice for McKay. Would be happy to see what we can get for SPS. Shows no urgency and has hardly developed in three seasons.
Yes squeezed out with the players you mentioned. Problem is that Docherty is coming back from two knee reconstructions and Marchbank's body has been very fragile. So there is considerable doubt on those two players. I thought he deserved one more season, at which time we would have a clearer...
Surely should have learnt the lessons of one year earlier when everyone thought Shiel was across the line. I would say Coniglio is unlikely. Better to think that way and be surprised if it turns out otherwise.
Daisy is no doubt stiff. Given his form, I thought we could have used his experience for 1 more season with the uncertainty around Docherty and Williamson. I think what may have gone against him is the development of SPS down back the past 4-6 weeks.
There have been a lot of people banned for very little. He's not a very popular bloke. People need to question his motives and attitude and give this page a miss. He's using the page to stroke his own ego!!

Correct. Rumour I was given at the timdme when McKay couldn't get a game, club clearly into Shiel and us assisting Hawks at deadline to get O"Meara deal done. Since then clubs who are better positioned have shown interest. All the posts I am reading seem to think it is a foregone conclusion...
I think Wietering played better in the last 5-6 games and looked a lot more assured. I also heard an interesting discussion that some of the defenders found it difficult to play with Jones as he was very unpredictable. They could never play with much structure / certainty as they never knew what...
He has been disappointing this year along with SPS, but i will reserve judgement on them and expect to see a greater and more consistent output from these two with a full pre-season. And you can put McKay into that category also.
The Giants will also need to ask themselves (and probably Shiel) whether he is going to leave at the end of next seson, in which case they're going to be better off getting a deal done this off season.
Knightmare, the speculation is that Adelaide will come hard for Pick 1 with the popular scenario being pick 8, 14 and 20 (or McGovern) with a late second round pick from Carlton thrown in. If you were Silvagni would you do this deal if you received McGovern, were able to use pick 8 to get Shiel...
Could we pull this off? Trade pick one and our second round pick (from Adelaide) to Adelaide for their picks 8, 14 plus McGovern. Put a bug offer to Jeremy McGovern to entice him to play with his brother. Trade pick 8 to GWS for Shiel.
We end up with McGovern brothers and Shiel and still have...
