It's actually a really valid point. Gives us the chance to confirm or otherwise whether we offer him a contract or not.
I'm with a lot of others to sign Phillips - along with McMahon. Gives us key depth at both ends.
Eddie never wanted to leave. Close friends of my family were his sponsors at the time - he literally cried when he had to tell them he was leaving the club.
Wow....HO'K becoming a bit of a beast before our eyes. Only just turned 20yo yesterday (happy b'day big fella) - AND has a fair bit of mongrel in him to top it orff JustaBattler 😉
If he can stay fit, I can see him getting a gig at some stage during 2025.
I appreciate all that Soapy, but it still doesn't explain why a player pushing to be drafted on an AFL list commits to a side where he's not even guaranteed a game.
Anyway, I'll leave it at that....I don't wish to start any debates, but still find it quite odd.
Yeah, I reckon it's all a bit weird....there must be some strategy behind it that'll be revealed in time, but ****ed if I can work it out.
We've signed Phillips to the VFL, but if we take DGB or Nigel as an SSP - as you say, we'll be ridiculously top heavy down back in the VFL. If we have...
I'm with ya Soap, reckon he's the one that completely flew under the radar. Tested brilliantly in the vertical jump at the combine, so hopefully translates into being strong overhead. He's a leftie as well, which me likes a lot.
Just going by this clip, shows he's more than capable in a marking...
Reckon the 'issue' with Charlie is that he plays with a free spirit that'll never change.
At the end of the day, he's a surfer lad from the Bellarine who just happens to be very good at football.....chances are if you try to regiment him, it'll just backfire.
You would assume that our LM already have made their decision, but won't make any signings until the end of the SSP period in case of any potential LTI's.
I like it.
Reckon it may get down to Kemp vs JSOS for the other HFF spot - I'd have JSOS marginally ahead of him right now, but either way, we need an additional medium sized forward who can take a grab. Sadly missing JSOS and Martin this year, with Kemp playing down back, and Moir finding his...
Also, some players just aren't endurance beasts...but that doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna impact on their game.
Back in the day, Eddie and Lance used to head off to the fat farm after their breaks, and it didn't seem to effect them too much.
Having said that, one of the criticisms I've...
I need a draft guru to help me out here.
We entered the draft with picks 3, 38, 63, 68, 69 and 71. We ended up with Jagga, HO'F and the Kray Brothers.
We know we pick Jagga and HO'F with our first two picks, but does that mean we effectively picked up Ben with pick 63 and Lucas with pick 68...
Okay, that clarifies the player I was trying to work out in the video.....he's the one just behind Monahan and Ollie in the running drill....so shows he's got some decent running capacity.
He was out there on the track, so may still be in the mix.....who knows?
I'd actually be disappointed if we re-signed Carroll or Nigel. There's no immediate need for Carroll after we drafted Charleson, so could develop another year in our VFL program. Durdin just can't stay on the park.
I'd...
Says Phillips likely to join our VFL team, but we're not looking to add him via the SSP.

Walter White wearing the #44....could be an omen ;)
The issue I have is that when they're doing the drills and half the squad is wearing the orange, there's no numbers on the strip so it's difficult to work out who they are - especially when you're at the training session. I wrote to the club...
