Hawthorn are insanely efficient. In every other facet of the game they’re kinda mid-range, but they make the most of their opportunities. The big thing is their score conversion from ground balls inside 50, which is exactly our weakness.
Voss is the danger man in this game. They will have a tough time covering the 3 talls, particularly with Jackson working Meek over around the ground. Avoid repeat stoppages, use the width of the ground, make them chase, take advantage of the mismatches and win the contested ball. Freo by 45
When the wind was swirling and everyone was misjudging their marks (including Treacy), Amiss continued to judge perfectly. He’s primed to start kicking bags again as his confidence returns and his teammates actually start kicking to him.
The more time Young and Brayshaw spend forward, the more I want Warner. Do we really need an extra small forward if we have 1-2 of our midfielders rotating forward at all times? I don’t want Baker or Bolton.
This is not a new tactic for them and it shows in their quarter-by-quarter stats. They’re a mid-ladder 1st quarter side, but clearly the worst 3rd and 4th quarter side in the competition. The dam walls crack.
Would love to find a way to have Voss in the side. Is there any potential for him to add a second position to his repertoire? Maybe build up his tank and play some time as a tall wing.
