Swaer to God, if he's not a starting 22 player in 2023, then I'll start barracking for North! Sensational effort today, he kept us in it until half time when the rest of the team finally woke up....
The best thing about tonight was making sure that Port know that we can beat them, even with a bunch of kids. They still haven't gotten over the 2020 loss to us in the PF, so it's great to keep the pain going :tearsofjoy:
Gibcus will be great in defence when he fills out a bit and packs on some muscle, but I think he's a bit of a swingman like Balta. Can't hurt to give him some time up forward though.
So I take it that you don't look at the free kick count across the AFL? You do know who has most free kicks awarded against them, don't you? It's Richmond.
Yep, bullshit that they were allowed to play on. If the AFL don't caution or warn Port over this, then they'll be showing yet again how inconsistent they are with the rules.
Disappointing to see Bolton try to be too flashy...be a star with basics first, then be a hero. Loved Baker though, man he saves us so often. Hugo was awesome too, Juddy had a great first game, even Tarrant lifted tonight.
Gibcus made some mistakes that cost us, but he did well against awesome opposition (Buddy). That goal of his was special too. But just look at the last half - we kicked only 4.8 to 10.3. That's just crap, no matter how you look at it. You really start to appreciate how our GF teams were special...
None of these three were that bad, we just aren't clean with the ball. Gibcus has been awesome to date, but still caused several turn overs and a goal tonight. George is like MRJ, applies heaps of pressure even if he doesn't have a lot of posessions, goals, etc... That's why they're here. You...
I wouldn't be unhappy if they gave Cotch another week off to see how a tweaked midfield will perform. He's unlikely to play beyond this year anyway, so got to get some games into the less experienced players. Short was good, RCD was better, Stack applied pressure even if his possessions wasn't...
He didn't really find his feet until the third quarter, but his ability to chase and apply pressure is pretty good. But sure, he's definitely got some development in front of him. The potential is definitely there though.
Agree with everything, except that even we can beat West Coast Fleagles at the moment. Great to see Mansell get a crack, I love his tough, Pickett-like performance.
I was at Adelaide Oval today, but high in the eastern stand so it was hard to see accurately. I'll be watching the replay tomorrow, but the number of frees to Adelaide was hard to believe - even from my vantage point. I don't even know what constitutes a fair tackle anymore - seems like...
Getting a solid back line is important - if we had Vlaustin, Grimes, Tarrant, Broad, Short, and Rioli in the back 50, then I think it would have been a very different outcome. Midfield is still inconsistent, we need to focus there. Commentators are right, games are won and loss from the centre...
Well nobody on MAFS will get as f*cked as we just did ;-)
Maybe, but the point being that it's time to start giving the next generation some run time. Clearly the old guard aren't going to do it for us this year....
