Depends how many of those 2-3k are relative newcomers to AFL, and how many of them continue to go to the footy. If you can add even a few hundred now then that could underpin exponential growth year to year. If they’re all regulars who are already engaged then it’s a slower process.
I guess it depends what you’re after from a small forward.

What’s ridiculous is your lack of comprehension. I said Murphy was showing the same traits in his first few seasons as he was in his last, not that he was as good. We saw the reading of the play and decision making, we saw the manic desperation, we saw the good skills. Murphy’s biggest issue...
All the traits that were in Murphy’s repertoire were on display even in his first few years. Desperation, reading the play, good skills, ridiculous bravery. Not seeing that in Ryan.
Without being privy to what they think, I’d just assumed coaches will just make the best of what they’re dealt. My post though was just giving my view of the positives and negatives.
Positive:
footy back a week earlier
tick off an interstate trip early
Negative:
- an extra bye. God I hate byes but it’ll likely balance out when Tassie enter as we’ll all get an additional bye anyway.
Only real disadvantage is for teams that go deep into finals being drawn to play teams...
I’m more surprised by Fowler being delisted given our lack of forward-ruck options. Probably squeezed by Barnett’s form.
I’d assumed we were +1 on our list given we’d replaced Sheridan while still retaining her on our inactive list so either she comes back and/or we’re (at this stage) retaining...
Surprised to see some of these ladies delisted but wish them all the best. With Livingston’s retirement, does that leave us 4 or 5 list spots to take to the draft? Not sure where we’re at with Sheridan’s inactive spot being filled.
Yep, this. Kerr and Quaynor will have to wait till 2025 draft for their opportunity. We currently have 21 players coming out of contract in 2025, a large proportion of them the older guys and fringe signings. You’d have to assume we’ll have more list space/flexibility then.
The only non-Derby game at the show grounds to draw more people was the Doggies PF game in 2016. In fact, excluding finals and Derby’s, it’s about 6k bigger than than the next highest H&A crowd against the Weagles. No wonder the afl love us playing there. I think we’ll best the ground record of...
